I have a feeling the base motor may not be faster than the X5/6M but I bet they put the secret sauce in the chassis and it probably will have crazy steering feel for an suv.

That upper-end market is too competitive to charge 200k and it's not running with an Urus or 707
I suspect it will be the best handling SUV ever. But do performance SUV buyers want that? And if you personally want that, how much depreciation will you be eating when you sell it?

$159k starting price is steep.
Scared to see Alpina's price for their own variant
Is an Alpina variant in the cards? I recently read that the 7er will not receive an Alpina variant for the first time in decades.

The person buying a 160k suv isn't average

The average suv buyer buys a 50k Explorer or Palisades or base spec Tahoe

I am not quite sure but I assumed so since they usually make a variant of their own for most of the models on the higher end

There is something about a Red Line version so no know if they will as my understanding is the XM is a one and done as I bet this platform is related to the IX.

38 year old financial professional here.

I think it looks fantastic. I totally love it.

I'm not a buyer though as my purchase price tops out at $100k.

Bmw wants me to retire bmws sometimes lol. But what else would I get 😂😂😂.

Honestly if I could afford a urus I'd get one other then that my joy in bmws have been amazing to say the least. Just a few gripes in design and options vs competition

People that most likely buy these won't car lol

I would buy one is I could rock a 200k suv

Why no updated steering wheel or switchgear? For that price and what it is should've had a more exclusive interior

All the cars you compared it to weight over 1,000lbs less…

I'd be curious to see the weight sans hybrid components

They are all still fat pigs even at 1200-1000lbs...I bet this is a compromised chassis using the IX platform sans all the EV stuff.

I don't know why but it makes me think of these guys.

And shouldn't it have like 800+ HP for a 3 ton $160k+ hybrid M SUV?

My Rivian R1S wait remains worth it.

Remember that the Urus is nothing more than a tarted up VW.

Aston 707 uses a Merc V8.

The only truly bespoke SUV will be the butt ugly Ferrari.

Turbo GT is 5000lbs and so is Urus

That's significantly lighter

At least they better integrated the curved touchscreen. It no longer looks like it's being held up by popsicle sticks.

So thats how BMW honor 50 years of the M Division ? With a $160,000 plug-in hybrid crossover SUV that pays homage to the BMW M1..

When they said they will be making M cars without base series like the M1 , i just had hopes for something else , but its ok .. in this day and age SUVs makes sense.

Words like this have me hoping this is good:

"I appreciate the XM's powertrain, despite my brief time with it. But I adored the electric power-assisted steering from the first turn. The XM may still be in development, but it already has potentially the best steering of any BMW in over a decade and that's because it so clearly mimics older BMWs.

It's not rapid and twitchy, like an M3. Hell, compared to the X6M I drove back from this test, it feels relaxed and vaguely analog in its responsiveness (aside from the lack of slop). Beautifully weighted on center, the effort required increases from modest to properly weighty as the steering angle climbs, but it's the natural sensation that wowed not just me, but most of the American media in attendance."

The question is are those fully spec or light weight with no options.

Again, not saying the bmw isn't fat..

5314 is what an optioned Urus weights as per Car and Driver

https://www.caranddriver.com/reviews...-trip-iceland/

I think they all will get fat with the next gen as everyone will jump on the hybrid bandwagon to meet emissions standards.
