This car is BMW's Trojan Horse to distract buyers and increase prices of all other offered vehicles.

The one in my dealer’s showroom is $186k with ADM, I wished them luck. Hideous, but I am sure we all be proven wrong when some SAP eventually buys it and gets hosed for even more add-ons in the finance dept.

I don't like how the exterior looks at all, just too busy and incoherent for my tastes but since you live in Northern VA, I'd imagine quite a few people around here will want one.

No different than the folks who like G Wagons and the Urus. Except the XM is much cheaper than the Urus and I'd imagine a bit more comfortable than the G Wagon.

A "performance SUV" basically has to do the same thing any performance car has to do, accelerate quickly, make loud exhaust noises and be mostly comfortable on the highway which is what these cars will be doing 99.9% of the time.

Not disagreeing with you necessarily, I haven't driven one or seen one in the flesh. As others have said, perhaps the market isn't the US, maybe it's China and I'm all for exporting stuff from Spartanburg to Beijing. But for the American audience i'm not sure where the XM fits in at all.
Generally speaking I agree with you but I'd imagine the battery is under the same 8 year/100,000 mile warranty as BMW's other batteries. Besides, you can also lease the XM with the same shitty residuals as other M cars these days.

I'm going to some event next weekend where I'll finally see and drive one of these in person as well as the M3C and an i4 M50 which I'm not interested in driving since I already have one but will be interesting to see how it drives. As for the last comment, BMW has specifically stated that it expects the US to be the XM's biggest market and that it expects that many traditional BMW owners will hate the car....which has shown to be true so far.

Yeah it's up what? 20% YTD? 30% over the last year? Sounds like a smart plan.

This thing makes a Pontiac Aztek look like a Ferrari. It is not going forward with modern futuristic designs. If fact it's just the opposite. It's going backward to the 70's where everything was weird, didn't flow and was out of proportion. Everyone thought the new fads then were really cool, but we also know what happened to them.

And as mentioned, the M5 is a better performing, better looking vehicle for a lot less. At least BMW hasn't screwed it up yet.

Ah good ol' Doug... dramatic pauses and sweaty exuberant hand motions. The best part is watching a 30 minute video of a review where he exclaims it's the best car he's ever driven, Doug score - 68 out of 100! uh ok...

He ranks everything on the same scale so an amazing sports car will likely have some less practicality compared to a minivan. I just base everything off the weekend scores. Unless its a car you want to daily I’d go off the combined one.

We have our HEA in the showroom for sale. Everyone who comes in to potentially buy it leaves after seeing it in person we can’t even sell it at MSRP 🤣.

Wow

Maybe if they got rid of that gigantic hockey stick, it might look somewhat better

Maybe if they built an actually performance car and not this thing they sell.
