Ain't no free lunch.
Also, BMW is using other cost-cutting measures while increasing the sales prices. For instance, the HK system in G05 is the same price as the F15 but the amp used is a lower powered cheaper one. The 200K Red Baron has so many interior pieces coming directly from base G05. And, those are the ones we can see.

Without counting the huge cost saving of removing many physical buttons, it's only going to get worst, I am going to be keeping the 2023 as long as I can justify the running costs.

We also have a 2021 Atlas and the 2024 switched to an all digital(screen) configuration and removed the V6. They try to upsell that it has a better interior and is more efficient but it isn't, the only thing happening is they make more money out of it and give the illusion your getting more. When I saw the changes my interest came down to a total 0.

Thumbs down

I can NOT even believe this is "real life"???

As a BMW owner of nearly 2 decades... I still can NOT believe the Design Language and Direction BMW has taken.

Absolutely atrocious!!! It is simply BEASTLY. Not in a good way.

Hopefully this will fail miserably or else we might get watered down (de-content) M cars at the same premium they are currently charging. I just don't see why anyone would pay 200k for the same performance features that can be had at 130k. Did I miss some with this XM that actually justies the price point?

MSRP - Closer to launch. I guess they want to see how low they need to price it, for it to sell.

I’m thinking $85,000.

Ok so here’s the changes I propose:

- ditch the red trim etc
- upgrade the interior to be nicer
- lose the hybrid system to save weight
- tune the v8 engine to get the additional HP we know it can produce
- change the front grill to not look like it’s from Angrybirds
- create a nicer wheel design
- add bmw logo to center trunk door area instead of weirdly in upper parts of rear window
- decrease price by 60k+
- rename it to something besides the XM

I think with just those few changes we have ourselves a winner!

…definitely keep that bag though — put a first aid kit or something instead.

I bet you are a missing a 1 in front of that price for the actual MSRP.

I don't think this is going to be a volume seller by any means. Since it rolls down the same line as the X5/6/7s in Spartanburg, they can always shift production away from this if it doesn't sell.

You see, now 130K seems reasonable for a car that was starting at 108K not 2 years ago? That's how BMW is conditioning the buyers. They don't even care if this atrocious thing sells or not. It's a mere tool to increase prices. Like a magicians trick: Look at this!

To be fair, they dropped the non-Competition version, so like for like the base MY2020 X5MC was $114,000, and the base MY2024 X5MC LCI is $122,300.

$8300 (7.3%) increase in 3 years is not terrible.

Here is my take on what this should of been(XM model):

- X8 (X7 2 row coupe style)
- No M version unless X7 gets one too
- Hybrid tech braught to X7 at the same time.
- Non-hybrid version available or just V8 is fine
- Priced 5-10k over X7

This would of been totally fine would of sold.

If you absolutely want to make a Urus/Q8RS fighter this is the wrong recepe. As it is now this is unsellable unless your buyer is a bit brain dead.

It's going to go down the same path as the 8 series.
Nothing special about it

Congrats! I was in a similar situation with my 22 Macan GTS. If I bought it today, it would be $21K (CAD) more, partially due to our communist govt's new luxury tax, but mostly due to cost increase.

Unfortunately my M3C will be very expensive compared to the 22 price. Still worth it for me though.

I still do like the interior differences on the red label vs the non red label. Also - I kinda look at it like the red label is the competition version of the XM. Relatively speaking I think it’s just the better version of the XM.

For the life of me I can’t get over their placement of the black/red trim
Pieces it looks hideous … everything else would flow much better without the random ass trim going down the sides
