I’m sure it’s one of the posts (not going through 6 pages) but the first thing that comes to mind is “lipstick on a pig”.

I still can’t get over the fact that BMW made the XM a plug in hybrid. Really?! What were they thinking? If you’re dropping $160-$200k on a super performance car, you’re not thinking, “at lease I save a few bucks on gas”. We have an X5 45e we really like, but I still don’t see the market for a PHEV super performance car. If you want to the eco friendly performance SUV, you’ll buy an iX M60.

I just do not have feelings toward this car as a whole, in term of design language, performance and or even why it’s carrying the M label on its own?

I already saw two of them in real life. Hope that BMW will achieve something from this experiment.

Does anyone know the average MPG of this thing with the engine and batteries used simultaneously? I can’t find it anywhere. Seems like that should be a selling point if this is the future of bmw M…

I’ve only seen the XM in the internet and it’s beyond hideous. I came to see it in person at BMW Irvine with my son and I was wrong! Holy Chet! It’s fugly. My eyes can’t believe how BMW approved the exterior design of the XM. BMW is trying too hard to appeal to a customer that has never opened up an engine hood let alone change rotors or replaced a clutch. The XM interior was nice though. As for the engine, put it in the X5 or X7 and it will thrive.

Check Lamborghini Revuelto and Ferrari SF90. They both are super performance cars, both cost $400k+, and both are PHEV.
So it's totally fine to use both technologies (combustion and electric engines) within 1 car.

+ c63 AMG
BMW M has decided to go v8 hybrid instead of I4 hybrid. Time will tell but the only good thing I can say about this is +4 cylinders

A true Supercar worthy of a $200k price tag.

I blame the SUV market for this. If people didn’t like feeling taller on a highway this would have been out 5 years ago.

XM label red limited???

I am still confused too - based on dealer and regional BMW rep feedback it stands that XM Label Reds can be purchased "freely" in many different colors (40 to be exact) however any car not ordered in Frozen Carbon Black Metallic will not be numbered. Weirdly enough U91 is a color option but apparently not "the" color option that matches the limited frozen carbon black metallic or is it? Seems like the press release was way ahead of the ordering guides. How would they "control/manage" which M dealer gets to sell one before they reach the 500 max?

Does anyone have real proof of this?

XM Label red is not Limited. However there is a limited version of Label Red and that is in frozen black with red stripes around the grill in the front as well as the rear (as well as on the side). The not limited LR version dont have have red stripes in front and back, just on the side (unless you opt for blacked out).

You are correct - none of 3 different M dealers I called actually knew those differences 100% either and none of them are getting an allocation of the limited version once they checked.
Could have signed for a reg Label Red (in U91 close copy of the limited frozen black) for MSRP at $189k incl. Drivers package that opens it to 175Mph and the Bowers Wilkins upgrade. They first wanted 10k over sticker to start.

I don’t think they will sell 500 special edition XM label red vehicles. They are having trouble selling regular ones still with over 500 on the dealer lots. Might as well just number every label red model they sell because my guess is it won’t be 500….

My XM arrived at the dealer and I had a look at it before they put PPF on it.

I thought it looked awesome. Best looking SUV in my mind!

No clue. But it’s in reference to Johnny Walker Red Label. Even though the words are in the reverse order, I guess it’s trademarked. The funny thing is the word Red is still referenced in several places like my BMW Financial Services account.
