All XM owners, what are your opinions thus far?
Looking at picking one up this weekend but would like to hear all the likes and dislikes from current owners. Tell me your stories.

Picked mine today
Just trying to get my bearings at the moment On top of my head, the minor details PLUS: 1) Low road noise 2) Great color Minus: 1) Gotta input bmw id to activate some functions like (auto roll up windows, remembering some settings) 2) Always trying to shut down the gasoline motor. I wish there was a gasoline only option setting. 3) Doesn’t remember last driving setting on startup (hybrid, electric or econtrol) 4) How to shut up the f**** voice assistant 5) Low battery capacity in North America vs rest of the world 6) NO HITCH at the moment 7) No air suspension 8) Idrive 8 is totally less functional to me atm. Everything is more geared toward a touch input instead of the idrive controller 9) Motorway assistant not available vs Label Red 10) No comfort access on the rear passenger doors? Come on 11) Lack of rear hiding space because of the battery 12) WTF why do I have to unlock the fuel door with a button to put gas? 13) The price is way off vs an X5m or even x5 50e 14) Iconic sounds are missing vs IX (very low output). 15) Keep the artificial motor sound out from the speakers 16) Only 1 key (there’s a card also and yes the phone is possible but I miss my keys…) 17) Lack of buttons. (Fan, temperature setting, presets, etc). I want my buttons back 18) Wish I could charge my battery while running even if it kills the fuel economy 19) Sirius xm interface lacks functionality like older models. For example, time shifting with the idrive controller is not possible anymore 20) Slow response sometimes by Idrive 8. Feels like the computer is trying to connect online but it brings the screen to a halt. Some of these points are general orientations from BMW or Idrive, but I must say I don’t like where they are going atm. Gimme choice, stop trying to control the customer or his personal data. Also, maybe some are fixable by coding like being able to read my sms or email while driving which is probably less dangerous than having to fumble with Idrive 8 by touching it. BUT, yes I did enjoy my drive today Last edited by gan23; 04-18-2023 at 11:24 PM.. |

I had my XM for 2 weeks now and ready for break in service this week. I absolutely love the XM. For me personally, it’s like driving an EV without range anxiety. I always want a M car. I never pull the trigger is because I do not want loud exhaust noise and jerky car all the time. I had an iX M60 and it’s just too soulless for me. This plug-in hybrid is exactly what I wanted. I use the hybrid in my neighborhood or in the city. Once I get on the freeway I press the M1 button and I started to hear the engine roar it’s just a good feeling.
Plus… Ride Confort Seat Comfort (never big fan of M seats but this is not a typical M seat) Fuel Efficiency (40 electric miles is more than enough for my daily commute) Fast Superb Handling The Beast Look Beautiful Interior (Deep Lagoon with brown dashboard very 60s) iDrive 8 (very minimal learning curve) Minus… No B&W Diamond Sound System on mine AC is not as cold as I want to (I live in Texas) iDrive 8 didn’t recognize my key a few times so it puts me as guest driver To me it’s a no brainer to pick XM over X5M or X6M comparable equipped for about $15k different. For that I get… Hybrid Platform Luxurious Interior Monster 23” Wheels Beautiful and Unique Exterior (not just another X5 or X6) M Lounge (the ambiance light on the roof is beautiful) Iconic Grill Light I know X5M and X6M enthusiasts would argue their cars are faster. For 0.4 second 0 to 60? I am not going to worry about it. Let me put it this way.. I love the XM so much that my XM as we soeak is in the shop getting the xpel ppf treatment. And I just added the 100k miles extended warranty and ultimate care plus. Just my humble opinion. Drive safe. |

Did you manage a 9-10% discount on the XM?

Nice, it’s looking like I’ll be getting 10k this Saturday. So I’ll more than likely lease it.
How did you guys purchase? Lease or Finance?

Ironic there has been a week long gas shortage in miami and south Florida due to a massive flood at a port in Fort Lauderdale… that being said I been enjoying pure electric drive all week and saving my trip to the gas station which can be a 2hr endeavor with huge lines…
Gotta say what I though would be the least used feature of the xm has saved my a$$ all week and counting! Loving the gasless need so much I may consider an all electric vehicle as my next option. |

I can definitely understand that. My wife has the IX, I'm not ready to go fully electric for myself and decided to meet in the middle with the XM.

First electric run this day from 100% charged yesterday night. Car said 60 km (37 miles) but with half highway half city drive with multiple stops, I managed 35 km (22 miles). Ac was set to auto 18.5 with a sunny day and temps between 2 to 9 Celsius.
I’m underwhelmed. I hope the autonomy gets better. Official specs calls for 82-88 km WLTP even for Canada (but I guess it’s a mistake since the press release quotes 29.5 gross and 25.7 net kWh) and the label red is quoted 19.2 kWh net and 50 km |

*** edit: I dit 45 km on the battery today. Getting better*** With sports mode, the motor keeps running which is the way to force it to run in combustion mode and I kind of understand why you have to release the pressure in the gaz tank before tanking with a release button Last edited by gan23; 04-24-2023 at 06:00 PM.. |

[QUOTE=gan23;30056469]Thanks for the info. I'm learning to manage my expectations at the moment. The car drives great but it's massive in size to manoeuver.

Getting better*** With sports mode, the motor keeps running which is the way to force it to run in combustion mode and I kind of understand why you have to release the pressure in the gaz tank before tanking with a release button How is it possible that you only get 45 km when they have said that you should get at least 80 km in real life? My current RR Sport hybrid is quoted about 40-50 km and I get 30 IRL. Strange that the Label Red is quoted a lower range! It’s the same battery, same engines and same weight? Are everyone happy with the day to day comfort? Not to stiff/hard/un-comfy? My RR Sport are way to soft. Looking forward to a more firm ride than that. |

Had mine for 2 days and so far it’s an improvement over my 22’ X6 M50i loaded. The seats aren’t as comfortable as the X6 though.

Net usable kWh is lower in North America vs rest of the world and also WLTP vs EPA are different ways to estimate distance. As for the Label red, they just corrected the mistake they made in the first release of the specs of the XM in Canada For now, I’m pretty happy with the comfort even though it lacks air suspension |

You're asking about a car that was recently released (and thus all owners are new). Needless to say, I wouldn't be surprised if the results are a bit biased.
