Remedy not available?

Is this brake booster? That's been giving issues past year. I believe it is because to many cars are being called in and now they realizing it's a safety issue.

yes.
remedy not available, the parts to complete the recall are not yet avail. either they need to redesign or they dont have enough to cover the 80K vehicles that need to have their brake boosters replaced. theres another thread with all the info to date.

I noticed the same recall on my vehicle, is this a serious problem? We have a long 2500 miles road trip coming in 1st week of April, dealer says they don’t have a part/fix yet, is it safe to drive that long?

Any updates on this, is it safe to drive with this issue? I see quite a few CPO's that have this recall flagged on the VIN.

Also talked to a mechanic who works in another BMW dealer, he said done so many IB recalls already, weird

I asked my dealer in FL yesterday during a service visit and they said no fix is available yet. It seems kind of strange to me that they put out a notice and still can't ID a fix. They say that the supplier may not have met specifications. If they know what specifications were violated, it seems they would know what has to be replaced. Am I looking at that wrong?

they dont have enough parts to launch the recall campaign yet.
other countries with lower numbers of impacted cars have had their recalls done.
all cars produced after october have "fixed' parts.

it was a total of 80K cars, they arent diverting parts from the factory and theres only so many the supplier can make.

i suspect they are waiting till they have enough inventory to handle the expected volume of cars that will be coming in.

My car has been at the dealership for 2 weeks now with no fix from BMW in sight. Not really sure what my options are here. Called BMW and they told me to call them back around week 3 and they could pursue some type of monetary reimbursement.

All felt very vague and annoying.

Maranello, worth a check tho. Also check on BMW’s recall website, mine was “1 OPEN recall” two days before delivery, then changed to “0 OPEN RECALL” after that. Assume they got it done

I spoke to the service advisor this week. He told me that there was a fix (with parts backordered), but apparently that fix is now seen as not working. So they are trying to come up with a new software/hardware fix... It wasn't clear, but seemed as though the cars that received the fix may have to have another fix...

I'm now at 3 weeks at the dealer. End of next week I'll likely pursue a lemon law claim. Might have to move on from BMW

biggest issue will be parts supply
the recall represents a good year of production. production isnt halting so the suppliers now have to more than double the rate of production of what they need for production AND enough parts to cover the recall (and sure as hell they arent slowing down production to shift parts into the recall)

the rumor is june for the actual repairs to begin. bmw has known about this for a while, and probably began amassing parts in jan-feb when they informed nhtsa.

I'm unfamiliar with Trade Assist. How does that work?
