Hi there,

I'm pretty sure 2023 X7 40i can opt for the dynamic handling package (and also IAS can be a separate option as well). But today I just checked BMWUSA website, it seems there's no longer such an option for 40i models?


Can anyone familiar with this explain what's going on here? Do they have supply chain issue so they removed this option from 40i models?

I don't have any insider knowledge, but I assume they are using the supply they have for the M60i models. Those two options for the X40i dropped from the BMW build site a couple weeks ago. We have an order in with our dealer in the order bank (not yet given an allocation or production number) where he was able to add it IAS on their ordering system. However, we fully expect that once it does go into production, IAS will be dropped from our actual build as it wasn't in production prior to removing it as an option for the X40i. Unless something changes with the supply chain, the only way you are getting DHP or IAS is if you buy a M60i.

My X7 (40i with IAS option) is actually already built and in transit. I'm just surprised to know that this feature was dropped entirely.

Confirmed, it was pulled from 40i models go forward due to shortages, no eta for return

Yep. I cancelled my order for an additional X7 because of this. Heading to get a Cayenne now. Still love my current X7.

Does the DHP or rear steering show up as an item on the m60i order sheet/vehicle inquiry report? I just checked my m60 order and don't see it listed…

Anyone have a good source tracking this delete, very curious to know if it comes back anytime soon.

I have an indiv color order in and would add this back if it returned before scheduling, the individual production delay could possibly work in my favor

Most orders involving an individual color or interior "lock" your order. You should call your CA to see if changes are even possible. My M60i locked immediately and when he realized it contained an error he had to lock a second order to fix it… just a heads up as you likely won't be able to add that feature of it comes back.

Once you get a VIN then the order is locked and can not be changed.

It can still be changed if you have just a production number.

My 40i just got dispatched from the factory. It spent 37 days in Quality Check after it was built.

I was told the holdup and long wait time for mine was because I was one of the last 40i vehicles that had DHP and it was a component shortage holding up the build.

Shortly after I ordered mine the DHP was removed from the website.

No telling when it will be back. As you have read above it is standard on the 60i. I’m pretty sure BMW has allocated the parts for those builds as they bring in more money and it’s a standard feature of the 60i.

Just got dispatched from the factory yesterday.

Keep in touch with your CA. They will be the first to know when it’s back as they get weekly updates as to what is available and not available as options right now.

If the CA asks nicely before going 112 bmw can amend them. It is extra work for the CA and bmw.

I optioned this in and it is on my build sheet and MyBMW tracking in the options so fingers crossed that it doesn't show up with it removed! I contacted SA to confirm that I will be receiving the DHP and IAS and he is crickets...

Currently has been in transport for about 10 days now and was told early November for delivery.

Today I checked MyBMW garage and the options drop downs are all gone and only color and interior is showing making me more nervous.

I am planning to refuse delivery if they removed the IAS option.

Your dealer will know if the option has been removed or not. If they aren't telling you, call BMW Customer Relations and they should be able to tell you.
