I drove the new Range, GLS, and went with 24 x7. The X7 beats range in every category. Both have great road presence. I don't have to worry about car stopping. Also, the Auto assistant on the highway was a deal breaker for me.
Range Rover looks clean, tho. It belongs to a rich lady whose husband is making the lease payment. Tata owned but run separately. In my mind, I'm like, they want 120K+ for a Tata car. Tata Cars is successful in India and is aimed at the lower to middle working class. Nothing against that brand.

The updated 40hp+ plus the split lights give this car the bang for the buck. I love the way it looks on the road, and sometimes I think about how surprisingly good it looks without M Sport Pro and just as is. An all white exterior with no black trim actually looks just as nice with the black grills.

While am not a fan of the re-design front for the X7 LCI, I do think that the Alpina XB7 LCI is one of the best looking SUVs on the planet now…..
It feels as if the split headlights and new bumper was specifically designed for the Alpina… looks so sharp. They are way overpriced though even in the pre-owned market; at least compared to the B7 prices and depreciation. |

My lease is up on my 21 X7 M50i, I’m replacing it with a RR Defender 110 Carpathian.
X7 has been fine, but I’m done with the terrible local service here in ATL.

Looks like you've definitely had a good run with BMWs. That defender should be sweet! Ask about windshield issues though. A good friend has one and he's been through 4 windshields in 2 years. He's not alone. RR always takes care of him but they clearly have an issue with those.

I looked at the Defender and it does not compare to the X7, they are totally different trucks.
I looked at the P530SE LWB and I admit I liked it but I have 5 friends who have or have recently had Rovers and all of them said do not get a Rover unless you are willing to have it sit in the shop quite often for electrical gremlins and other issues. I went with an XB7 and so far I am glad I did. I have not seen another one in my area but I see at least 2 or 3 Land Rovers a day in my area. |

I test drove RR before placing my X7 m60i order. X7 wins in every single category except maybe look because that’s subjective.
The engine and transmission options and tuning is simply the best in this class. RR’s powertrain is one class below. RR’s “offroad” capability is just a joke. Just look at that large wheel, it won’t survive even the first rock. It’s an illusion RR created for their owners that their soccer mom automobile is also an offroad beast. |

Someone here said it right. One is a lifestyle brand, the other a serious engineering company. It’s as simple as that!

Other than a touch more perceived luxury and curb appeal the RR has nothing on the X7 M60i. And if my memory serves me correctly, RR uses BMW engines. So while some may perceive RR as a Uber luxury brand, most drivers like a luxury performance driving lifestyle which BMW owns!

I’ve owned a previous gen RR for a short time, had to get rid of it very quickly because it drove like a drunken elephant and the infotainment was terrible. I like how the new one looks, it has a polished pebble SPA-type of vibe. I hope they fixed the driving/handling part. In any case I’m out of the market for such large trucks, they no longer fit my lifestyle.

That uniqueMR dude sure is one of the few folks I've ever seen on here fully unleashing his RR-fandom... From a purely rational perspective the argument seems hilarious, however as stated by the member himself, it's mostly the "street cred" that's exciting him. It's a marketing argument, not an engineering or usability argument. As long as we're clear on that, all power to him.
