Just get it! It’s awesome audio quality and it adds a lot to the cabin luxury with the ambient lighting.

Biggest thing you'll notice is how spatially the cabin is filled and clarity.

For me it is worth it; however, I've been involved in high end home audio and headphones for years. I also have two B & W 800 series setup in my house. 2 channel and a 7.2.4 in my theatre room.

My X6M has the Harmon Kardon, at the time B&W not an option due to Covid, and I had two X5's one with HK and one with B&W ('19 and '21), so for once I am probably a good one to answer.

To me I would say B&W is worth it. It's definitely an upgrade and something you will notice, if not just for the cabin filling sound from the in ceiling speakers. Highs are definitely better. Lows are comparable, I can actually maybe get HK to be a bit bassier at low volumes. I find the comments that HK/BW sound the same at low levels to be incorrect. That's maybe possible when listening to satellite radio or a compressed audio source; however, on lossless or higher quality compressed, tonality, especially voice is better at all levels. I do use a meter to calibrate the equalizer on all the cars, at the flat settings both systems sound very poor. Guys on the forum recommend the smile EQ, which is a good compromise for both but not as good as just pulling a mic.

The sound signature is similar to the 800 series; however, the 800 series obviously hits a bit harder given the amping requirements. My wife has driven both of the cars more regularly with the BW and as she would say, she's understood more words in songs than her other sources. Back to the clarity point.

Given it also sets off the car quite a bit, I'd say for most it should be a no brainer but also understand not wanting to shell out $3,400.

Thank you for a detailed review. I was reading a lot over internet and everyone recommends it. I was looking for the comparison of who ows both HK and BW. So thanks for those insights.. Planning to call the dealership and add B&W in.. its now almost $100,000 car.. ughh!!!.. I feel pain!!!!

BW is definitely worth it over the HK system. I thought HK system in the X5 was good enough until I heard the BW in our new X7 and WOW. It is amazing and worth every penny.

2024 Software Glitches

There have been a number of threads reporting:
1. Invalid Collision Avoidance stops
2. Driver Assistance errors

And perhaps others. I was wondering if anyone has seen the above or other glitches on the 2024 X7 yet. I would expect they have been resolved but would appreciate any inputs to the contrary.

Thanks

Using the Chrome developer page (F12), it looks like mine will complete production 2-days earlier on 4/25. It seems like that is happening to many vehicles.

On another note, does anyone know where the "HERE" map for the USA can be viewed?

If anyone doesn’t want to wait, BMW of South Austin has quite a few in stock.

My X7 is supposed to complete production on the 25th. It is still in "Production Begins" so they had better get with the program That said, I don't want them to rush and forget the front seats

Mine was in prod (150) then overnight it is 153 (assembly begins), past assembly and paint. It was supposed to be 4/26 now it is 4/24. I think their reporting is mostly accurate but precise it is not. Some others have reported several days in qc - not sure it is really qc or waiting for a part but they label as qc.

Hope yours moves along too.

Highway assist and service pack updates are worth waiting for and the price increase.
Hi TechCTU can you confirm what color this is? Is it skyscraper gray? thanks.

What was the initial problem you had with the vehicle? I thought there was some kind of programming issue that precluded pick-up if I remember correctly. If I have that right, how was it resolved? Thanks.

There has to be delay … I woke up to in QC … my prod date had changed to 4/24. Do you have special paint or something?

Thanks. I have standard options added, but no special paint or other unusual requirements.

Mine is Now in the Assembly Line?

From "Production Begins" to "Exterior Body Assembly" to "Paint Booth" to "Entering Assembly Line" in less than 30 minutes. Who says BMW isn't efficient? Who says waiting isn't fun?

On a more serious note, I suspect their database is not real-time.

Glad to know yours moved forward fast. Yes, not real time at all.

As of Tuesday morning it is awaiting carrier assignment.

New info. I called genius and now the production week went from week 15 to week 38. 9/17. I ordered it in November. That's almost a year and I'm probably going to cancel. What week are they telling you?
