Can’t believe after multiple updates this is still an issue. Someone posted in another thread I can’t find that BMW is aware of the issue and is working on a fix (according to BMW on Twitter). Still we wait..

After replacing my iPhone 14 pro, I have not seen this issue .
Apple was kind enough to replace my phone i had another issues of intermittent unresponsive screen
.
I have been driving for a week ..will post update if issue repeats ….

on a related CarPlay note, my X7 is giving me CarPlay fits.

Issues include:

-- intermittently when I use Siri she will hear me but, she just thinks and thinks and finally says she cannot help. It will work sometimes where I will use Siri to send an iMessage and then other times she says "working on it, still working, I cannot do that at this time". This happens frequently, unpredictably, and with two different iPhones. Note: Siri works on the iPhones just fine when not connected to CarPlay.

-- inconsistently connecting a device. This, I am guessing, isn't a carplay issue; however, sometimes my phone(s) will connect just fine to CarPlay/iDrive. Other times it takes 3 or 4 attempts, including resetting the connections, to get the phones to connect.

It's such a simple thing, but it drives me and my girlfriend absolutely nuts.

My opinion is this is not related to the phone. It's the way that the phone uses the onboard GPS when connected to AirPlay. I was able to recreate the issue on my iDrive 8/X7 with 4 different phones on 4 different IOS versions. I could also use all 4 of those on my iDrive7/X5 with NO issues.

Interestingly enough, just having phones connected via CarPlay caused any map software on the phone itself to be off. Disconnected from CarPlay and the issue went away.

I received and installed 03/2023.45 on Saturday and we did a roadtrip on Mother's Day (Sunday) and had no issues at all. Multiple locations, used 2 different iPhones. Too early to tell but since I saw this issue I never had a good day like Sunday where there were no GPS issues on CarPlay. Crossing fingers that version fixed it.

Checking back in. Have had 03/2023.45 for about 3 weeks now. Drift issue is gone. BUT I have a new intermittent issue. CarPlay will mirror my phone but once my phone sleeps or the screen is off, it’ll stop tracking my location and shows me at a standstill even though I’m moving. If I use the navigation for directions it’ll work but not just having the map on. Minor, and much better than the drift issue.

I’ve not had that happen yet after the upgrade. I am unable to start the car using the lock button and I’m not seeing remote start in the Mybmw app anymore.

Is anyone else still having this issue? I recently purchased a 3 series with iDrive 8 and I’m currently on 03.2023.50 and my drive to work this morning was a shitshow. It’s been getting worse ever since I purchased the car last month. Genius tells me I’m on the latest update and they don’t know why it’s happening. So frustrating such a simple feature on a brand new car doesn’t work.

Appreciate anyone’s advice.

I am still on 03/2023.45 and running the latest iOS (16.6). I have not had any issues in months now, going back to the last iOS update, so hoping it has been fully fixed.
