Removal of Rear Entertainment Screens

This one may be a bit of a stretch, but curious if anyone has any experience with the removal of the rear entertainment screens?

On my 2019 with a rear-facing car seat, they add no value, and sacrifice several inches of valuable space between the first and second row seats. In order for the third row to be able to fold down, the second row has to be positioned fairly far forward. With a rear-facing car seat and the screen installed, that means the front passenger is pretty cramped on leg room.

From what I can tell, it looks like 3 star (or star security) bolts attach the screen to the back of the seat. And there are three cable connections plugged in to the screen. At first glance it doesn't look that bad, but I'd hate to get started an open a can of worms. If anyone else has experience here, it would be much appreciated!

Honestly, so many people are looking for an X7 with RES, that you're likely better off trading out of it than trying to remove it.

I just got the car! And I will use RES on one side for our 4 year old. Just want to remove it until out toddler becomes front-facing in about a year.

I checked ISTA+ and couldn't find instructions in there either. I can find the removal of the DVD entertainment unit, but not the screens. Though admittedly I'm a total novice trying to navigate that software. I'm also on a 2018 version which doesn't recognize my VIN, so perhaps RES wasn't an option at that point.

This appears to be a different (older version?) of the screen than what is in my vehicle. But either way, much appreciated!

For those that ever decide to go down the same route, the removal piece was easy. 4 T25 screws to remove the screen, two cables to unclip, and 3 screws to remove the mounting bracket.

HOWEVER, the infotainment system does not appear to go to sleep properly anymore after turning the car off now. The work-around I've instituted is enabling the feature where the car automatically locks once you walk away. That cuts power to the infotainment system and turns it off.

Hi! Just got car same version as you and looking for a solution to remove one screen out just like you as I have a 2 years olds which he may kick or hit this one haha.

Rather than remove it, are there any case to protect it. Or if really need to remove it, can we replace it with a kind of dining or workstation set. (For working or eating)

Yep! I have this screen protector, which works pretty well: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I also ordered a protective cloth cover, which works great. Purchased here, and then after placing the order I asked the seller for custom dimensions: 12" x 6.5"
Fits great!
