Remote Start option GONE. Not under climate settings.

I've tried it all! ha!

I know, I know....go to the air conditioning section and select from there. But, it's not there either.

Just bought this 2020. Were there some that did NOT have it?

Even in the app, there's only that ventilation option. No remote start option.

Remote itself also does not engage with the three push.

Did you check in your idrive settings to make sure remote start is enabled?

Did you enable it in this menu setting? Sounds like you checked. I think there's also a setting under privacy? Not sure though.

Yes sir! Not there. So strange! Only the ventilation option.

i think MY2020 it was an option, are you sure this car has it?
it was part of the premium and exec packages
do you have a heads up display?

jholderrealtor Can you post more detail about your 2020 X7, is it 40i, 50i, or M50i? Also, what packages are installed on the car?

You are correct it was an option under the premium package. See my window sticker from the 2020 x5 I just traded for my 2023 X7…

Also, make sure you have connected your BMW account. Many of the things that require accepting legal terms, such as remote engine start didn’t show up until after I assigned a profile. Might’ve been a coincidence, but the dealer made sure that was one of the first things I did.

With the latest software update 07/2022.58 remote start is still available in my 2020 M50i. I have every option on it though so I don’t know if one of those options makes a difference.

Still present on my '22 M50i with 11/2022 software. I don't have (and have never had) a BMW account set up, and I've opted out of all the data collection checkboxes in iDrive settings.

If you had a remote start before, it can’t be gone after a firmware update. I suggest doing a iDrive reboot. Then make sure all permissions are rechecked.

After an OTA update, you have to check off remote start again to be able to activate it.

Anyone know how to start the 23 lci without the key fob?
I have the bmw card in my phone so I don’t carry the key fob.. I do see an option to start the car in the app but it has to be scheduled 10 mins out at the earliest…

I'm not sure if LCI is the same as preLCI. I have a 2021 X7 M50i. In the app there is a row of icons - lock, unlock, lights, horn and Start. The last icon which looks a fan is for remote start.

Try going here:
Car->Settings->Climate Control ->Preconditioning/Ventilation->Remote Engine Start

This is BMW being as cryptic as possible to hide a major function. This is also why you do want a company using this kind of idiotic logic taking away hard buttons and hiding them in a touch screen.

Might as well put the defrost controls in with ambient lighting as both are “eye centric” or climate fan speed under audio controls “Things I can hear”.
