Why is this E92 335d so cheap??
After the discussion on the price of AUC cars I saw this 335d M Sport on the BMW website. It seems very 'cheap' for an E92 335d M Sport with Nav+BT. I am paying £40K for mine next week (discounted) and this one is just two months old at £33,989 - un F*****g believable

I suspect it is a 'demo', they usually do not mention the mileage and on enquiry (from experience) they are under 5000 miles. It is a Y prefix registration which may also mean it is an ex BMW management car. All that should mean it should be up for the usual premium AUC money.

I noticed this a few days ago on the AUC site and thought it looked fishy.
Have you actually phoned to see if the car is available? I once saw a 335d se on the AUC site ages ago on the 'coming soon' section at very keen money. I phoned up about it but it was already sold ???????? I (perhaps cynically) thought that some dealer had done this just to pull in some interest and that the car was never actually for sale at that price at all.

Before I ordered my 335d in June I called a few dealers who had 335ds for sale at 'cheap' prices - primarily the big groups Stratstone and Synter. They were alledgedly demo's that they were keen to move on very quickly even if it meant they were selling at a loss. It seems to be a complete anathema to do that on such an expensive and desirable car. |

I betcha they've either input the model wrong and its a 325, or the price is wrong, or its done 15,000-20,000 miles in 2 months
Who's going to email them with the enquiry?!

MOA is normal for demo cars, my 320d had this when I bought it at 5 weeks old. Actually had 1100 on the clock when I picked it up.
The YS prefix just means it was registered in Leeds, nothing fishy there. Most BMW staff cars have an R prefix, had two of them as AUCs, normal give away is the fitment of a fire extinguisher. Never any problems with staff cars, anything gets sorted before they are put on the market Second hand values are being driven down by the discounts being given on new cars whether on the internet or by the dealers. The last 120d I bought was only put in the coming soon section on a Wednesday evening. This car was priced around £500 above Glasses trade value. I bought it the next morning. This car was £1500 to £2000 cheaper than others I'd been looking at. If this car's not on the dealers site I expect some lucky sod has already bought it! Regards Chris

Its beacuse you can get them with 12% discount from new, and like someone has said above this drives the secondhand prices down

To be perfectly honest there are loads with that spec for around the £34-35k mark, and that's with ~2000 miles on the clock.
The problem is at that price/spec they don't hang around for long! The MOA means it's a demo because they can't guarantee what the mileage will bewhen someone comes to enquire. They're just covering their ass.

With it being VAT Qualifying I wonder if there quoting the pre VAT price (Would make it just under 40K then) which would seem more like the price of a 335d M Sport Coupe also the registration and picture is of a 335d so doesn’t look like there’ve input the wrong model

VAT Qualifying has more relevance to company who want to buy the car using Contract Hire/Finance Lease, where the finance company can reclaim the VAT (or part of it). On a normal second-hand cars VAT cannot be re-claimed by the finance company, so you wouldn't quote a price pre VAT (and the calculation of the VAT is different on a second-hand car anyway). By definition, all new cars are VAT Qualifying. |
