Great pics! I'm a little surprised how 20" wheels look in real life - does not look small at all! Unlike the online configurator where 22" looks just alright.

They are plenty large and aggressive looking in real life. I just waxed mine yesterday and the paint and brushed metal (two tone ) looks fantastic together with a very high quality finish. The blue M brakes pop from behind them. BMW wheels are so much nicer than Porsche on their SUV’s.

Got my badges today. Can't decide on chrome or black. Any chance you can measure the height on your M badge on the quarter panels? I think mine are taller but hard to tell by looking at the pics.

The OEM badge is 2” long x 3/4”. BMW did a great job keeping the size very tastefull for a fender.
I did measure it’s oem placment for forum members. The pic is of the passenger side. Driver side is similar measurements but with the badge in reverse. Last edited by MystroX5; 12-29-2018 at 10:14 PM.. |

Looks like yours are mounted parallel with the fender line. I mounted mine parallel with the ground/level. I'll see how they look in the daylight and take some pics. Can you confirm if yours are parallel to the ground or if they slant down w the fender line? Thanks

They have to follow the lines of the fender or the badge will optically look crooked in comparison to the fender crease that is right above it. It is such a gradual taper that the badge looks strait even though “technically” it is not to the ground. If your badge doesn’t look noticeably crooked to the fender line, I would leave it as is. It’s such a slight taper. Here is a delivery pic of my 50i at the dealer. Notice the badge looks strait following the fender creases. Last edited by MystroX5; 12-30-2018 at 09:39 PM.. |

Going back to the E70 I can confidently state that Carbon Black never disappoints... coupled with the blue brakes and the laser headlight accents it ties in very well. As for the badges; doesn't matter how they're placed... removed them. So much cleaner and less flashy.

I know light colors are easier to take care of but I find the dramatic appeal of black unresistable. It’s so rewarding to wash and detail. The final observation was when I noticed how BMW implements their Merino Ivory white. Unlike other manufactures that uses black trim pieces with white leather, BMW uses white on the sides of the seat. White seat belts and white stitched leather down the side of the middle tunnel. That attention to detail and show stopping dramatic effect with Carbon Black/Merino Ivory/Piano wood brought me to my knees. Last edited by MystroX5; 12-31-2018 at 08:30 AM.. |

I am not sure if it is the vehicle design or just the angle of your photographs but on this body you can see far more blue than in the past.

So clean! I always get asked questions about mine right after a proper wash since the color is stunning. No one seems to know the model since I de-badged mine (no X5 or X-Drive 50i logos). I find it funny because the X5 is pretty well known, or at least I thought it was. I always tell people, if they want a V8, drive one with and without the DHP.

I commented when you first posted these photos. Then, I thought this was the nicest group of photos of a car I'd ever seen. Your ivory Merino interior is what pushed me over the edge to spec our new G05 with that color. My wife wanted the blue but that also looks good with the Ivory.
Since your OP, we ordered the G05 and picked it up in Spartanburg, drove it back to California and have been enjoying it for that past 6 months. I love my F30 as a personal driver, but I find myself "borrowing" my wife's G05 all the time now. Your posted popped up again today and I'm still amazed how well your photos showcase this awesome vehicle. |
