I agree with mjr24 - the second row is noticeable bigger when the second row seats are fully pushed back.
Hmm actually I'm in the X7 and maybe it's not as huge as I thought in terms of leg room. That being said, the seats seem to be way farther back than the X5 even if the leg room doesn't seem to be a ton bigger. Are they just more angled back (seats) in the X7?

Some people have the captain chairs. Great look but the legroom is actually better in the bench option since you can move the bench back further.

I came from an x5 as well and really feel the x7 being more luxurious. It is analogous to comparing the 5 and 7 series in sedan. Is there 5 series a great car? Absolutely. But the 7 is a much smoother ride and comfort is unquestionably better.

That maybe the case but my understanding is that the Captain’s chairs recline a lot further, giving the impression of even more room in the 2nd row.

I'd like to chime in again and I have to agree with other posters here that the legroom in the x7 regardless of "actual measurements" does seem significantly larger with the bench seat in ours. It may be the positioning of the seats in the x7 vs. the F15 x5 we had. Sitting in the second row of the x5 felt almost cramped compared to the x7. The ingress and egress with the larger passenger door in the x7 is also fantastic. That being said, in tight parking spaces it may not be the best thing

Agreed, I had an F15 X5 with a 3rd row and if I was using the 3rd row, nobody in that car was comfortable.

The driver's/ front row seating position does seem higher to me in the X7 than the G05 X5 as well. I actually cannot get as low as I would like in the X7 in comparison (where I can in a G05 X5), which means my legs are angled more down than out, and thus I end up sitting closer to the front of the car, giving the rear passengers more legroom.

This is why we went from X5 to X7. And we had an X5 with 3rd row (site note, there is no climate control in the third row of the X5).

What's evident is that everyone's experience will be different depending on seat position, height, etc. We opted to get the X7 over the X5 because, after multiple back-to-back test drives, the second row in the X5 felt extremely cramped vs. the X7. When I put the bench back in my X7, and the driver's seat is in my position or my wife's (I'm 5'9"), the 2nd row feels quite spacious for my family.

Is the reason the X7 40i doesn't offer laser lights a supply chain issue? My X5 40i has laser lights and I love the look of them, but disappointed to see the X7 40i doesn't offer it.

It's always been that way since 2019...makes no sense really.

The last year where the X5 40i had the laser lights was 2021. Now, only the M50i has the laser lights - standard.

I agree with your comment on the look.

Yeah looks like a lot of the options they offered on the X5 40i previously are no longer offered (laser lights, air suspension, acoustic glass, individual paints ametrin and tanzanite, fine wood ash trim, etc).

That's pretty disappointing. Almost makes me want to buy out my X5 lease, but wife is insistent that we need an X7. Looks like I can get most of those options with the X7 40i minus the laser lights however.
