No Rear AC w/ Third Row Seats Folded

I am shocked to discover that BMW only allow use of the rear AC if the seats are in the up position. So with the seats flat it states in the Heating/Ventilation menu "Climate control of third row seats only available when drive-ready and seats are folded up, with backrests snapped in." Are you kidding me? So when I want to put my dogs in the rear cargo there is ZERO air coming from the 5 zone rear vents. Hoping for a work around!

That will be super Sad. the owners X7 must pay extra for Cold weather package to get the A/C vent to 3rd row. Owner cant use if 3rd rows are Flat down.
BMW Please fix this.
Why BMW, Why? It's suck as expenses SUV. It's so nice you offer us 3rd rows but you trick owners an option as Cold Weather Package. And BMW didn't tell owners the 3rd row AC didn't come with it.

Yep, this is one of the things I hate about BMW. Just give me full control so I can decide.

I mean why in the first place they are holding the AC off when the seats are down? It's the 3rd row and in the same cabin!

This is extremely frustrating. We bought this car for our dogs top ride in the back with the seats down. What possible reason could there be to disable the 5th zone? It makes absolutely no sense.

Sometimes, I wish I could look the engineers in the eyes and just say WTF?

I could see how this can be a major problem for dog owners.

Best way to get this done would be to call BMW Genius or customer service and complain.

I can see a software-fix for that coming in the future - because this is indeed a problem for some.

Here is the latest on this issue from my dealer via a regional trainer. Not good news...

"This is something we brought up as soon as the car launched. They are VERY aware of this already and have continually been working on a solution but I am afraid that fix may not come until the LCI or something. To my knowledge it's not quite as simple as a software update, though there is another big one rolling out in August. I'll be in New Jersey all this week for training and will bring it up again and see if I can get an updated answer. "

Also Bimmer Code says they do not have the capability to change.

Not sure if this is what is happening here but I have been told on a previous X5 that when using both the front and 2nd row a/c the overall output is lessened. It was suggested to not use the second row a/c if nobody was in those seats. As a whole I do find the airflow in my X7 and 2018 or older X5's to be lacking on max AC. Particularly when all seating positions are in use.

Looks like coding may be the only option to address this if BMW does not "officially" address this. Based on the limited coding experience I have, I would be shocked that coding could not fix this. It just may take some time to find the correct coding parameters as there are A LOT of them.

Fortunately, there is another X7 owner on the forum who is looking into it. There is a new X7 coding thread recently started that mentions looking for a possible coding solution for this.
