DIY black exhaust tips

Saw someone on G05 did theirs in black. Looked pretty good. Since I have a leased car, I thought I'd order these, paint them gloss black, and slap them on during the lease. Then I'll just remove at the end of lease turn in. Wanted to give other people a headsup in case they wanted to go this route.

Interesting. I'm not a fan of the two-partition look, but I see the person in the X5 thread cut his out, so it's back to just the outer surround. I'm also curious what he did to "paint it black".

If nothing else, it's a much easier solution than digging up underneath the bumper, to remove and replace/reinstall the existing exhaust covers.

fwiw, I risked the $40 to try these and I think it was a fail. from the side, you could still easily see chrome underneath on the ones I bought so they are a no-go for us. im just going to get the tips off next few weeks and spray them high-temp black

Oh ya I totally forgot to post. I did a test fit before painting and realized that the edges are not fully covered. So I just installed them unpainted, and it looks interesting.
