Is time with product genius worth it?
Due to last minute scheduling challenges, I'm going to pick up my new X7 today without seeing a product genius. I'm relatively tech savvy, so I figured I would be able pick up everything on my own without needing a demo.
Did you find the product genius session worth the time? I'm essentially going to sign the paperwork and pick up the car. In and out. Thanks. |

I’d tell them you’d like that time for orientation with the Genius held for you for next week or whenever convenient just in case. But you should be fine if you’re tech savvy.
The big stuff are those things that aren’t intuitive like full AC control locations, 1-8 shortcut buttons, driver key profiles, XM activation, CarPlay activation, etc. This forum and YouTube can help but one on one with a Genius can get you all configured with, essentially, someone else doing it for you. |

I found it very helpful, but this is my first BMW and was unfamiliar with their layout. This vehicle has soooooo many options, bells, and whistles that it’s really beneficial to see them demonstrated from someone who’s been trained.

We skipped ours. We are both fairly tech savvy, but it still does take a little bit of playing around with to figure it out. There is a lot going on in this car, especially depending on which options you’ve chosen, but if you are willing to put in the time to learn about it, it shouldn’t be a big deal if, as you say, you are fairly tech savvy. For me, personally, I would just rather figure stuff out on my own. When someone is sitting there talking through everything, you forget stuff, or it tends to run together. I know I remember more things if I work through it, myself. Just my $0.02.

I think it was worth the time. My dealership gives a $50 gift certificate to the parts department for attending a session.
Plus it is free education.

I've gone back to let the 'genius' walk me through things a few times, they usually offer free swag at least. Sadly, I spend too much time here researching prior so I usually know more about the features than them. Many dealers seem to use the position as a training program for client advisors, so I don't expect much from them.

I moved from 2018 Audi Q7 to X7. Audi does not have any "genius" thing with them but honestly, the BMW Genius gives a very good intro of the features.

I am also thinking of trading in my q7, once I can get the right deal. Thanks |

It depends and there are numerous threads here about how X7 excels in. I would say that for the same pricing, you get a true luxury and a very comfortable version of an SAV comparing to Q7. I would also say that you would feel that trading a Q7 with X7 really worth the change.
