My dealer called me last week to have me drop of our X7 for another software update. He says the release claims to address iPhone connection issues. I'll post the iDrive version and my experiences after the update is completed (Wednesday, tomorrow) and I've had a few days to test it. So BMW is actively trying to rid iDrive of these issues but it be much more helpful if they started using the OTA updates feature so all owners could easily access the latest software. |

And what I know and what frustrates me is that Bluetooth and BMW has been absolute s::t for the past 13 years and they can’t figure this out already. Every BMW I have ever owned has a terrible first year of disconnects and protocol issues and it’s high time they get their act together. This isn’t sophisticated technology anymore. |

Is 3/2019.60 the latest iDrive software? I’m going in next week for an update - I’m on .45 which implies the dealer never bothered to update the car before delivery 10 days ago...

Intersting - any word on what it addresses - maybe I should wait as I’m going in the 24th at this point...

Another oddity for me is when I put my XS Max in the wireless charging tray it seems the screen never turns off so I end up not charging or losing charge - anyone else see this?

Miraculously my GPS and ConnectedDrive suddenly works. I didn't do anything on my part. Not sure how long this will last. I am surprised that GPS is not working independently from other components.

FWIW I’m on an old firmware (last updated end of April) and iOS 12.3.1 and all that stuff works for me. Occasionally need to delete connected drive app from my phone and reinstall it. I always lock my car when I get out (hence disconnecting from vehicle connectivity). And every now and then I reboot I drive.
My point is don’t make an appointment to go in expecting a fix unless you see an internal document representing the firmware update as such. Mine works fine but have no idea why nor does BMW in all likelihood |

Just updated to iOS 13 DP4 on my XS Max - one test doesn't mean much, but I was able tented the car while connected to my home wifi, and it seamlessly handed off to the BMW wifi/bluetooth and connected with all services working in CarPlay and on the phone. Prior, I could only get this to work (coming from my home wifi) by restarting the phone while in the car in my garage (as though it could not properly handoff to the car wifi)
If this remains consistent, it points to some of the issue at least being an iOS one (or iOS/BMW that Apple had to address) Still on iDrive .45 for now, software updates scheduled on the 30th... |
