I changed engine oil last week and found there is no "service flap" for the oil drain plug. I checked another X7 but no service flap

According to X7's service manual's

-Unlock and open service flaps (1) in stiffening plate (2)

I went to my local service & part department and was told the part does not exist.
I changed engine oil for all my BMWs, they do have the covers(service flap) for the oil drain plug.

So I was curious and took a quick look. I think I may have found it on RealOEM. Part #12 on the diagram at the following link (BMW p/n 31116876985):

https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/sho...diagId=31_1582

Of course, according to RealOEM, that part is not available on the 40i, but only Euro X7 variants: 30d and M50d. It is difficult to verify this is the correct part based on just the diagrams from RealOEM or from NewTIS (the diagram you posted) since the drawings are not always accurate and can be very generic in nature. However, it looks close based on your actual photo of the oil plug location. It would not surprise me that this part will fit US models (40i and 50i) and that it is only sold in Europe to meet some Euro specific law/requirement that is not required here in the US - not uncommon.

A quick Google search reveals the part is available from European online vendors. It is not that expensive at just a little over $12 before shipping if you wanted to order one to see if it would work. While the part should not be necessary, I have similar levels of OCD for stuff like this too .

Umm... I have not seen the underside of any car in 30 years...

Is this part only for 40i? or 50i included?

Difficult to verify without seeing it visually. However, according to RealOEM, the "stiffening plate" where that cover is installed is a different part number for the 50i. In fact, the 30d, 40i and M50d all share the same stiffening plate part number. But if I had to guess, the cover would probably fit in the drain plug opening on the 50i as well.
