illuminated kidney grille
I have the 23' X7 and I purchased the M Sport and Executive package which is supposed to have the illuminated kidney grille. I cannot figure out how to turn on the illuminated kidney grille and the dealership is saying the iconic glow is the illuminated grill, I thought they were different, the pictures on the site are definitely different. anyone know, if they are the same or different, and if so how to turn them on, it is not on the exterior lighting in settings. the iconic glow does not stay on while driving nor is that an option, but the illuminated kidney grille per the bmw site when building the car clearly says it can stay illuminated while parked or in motion.
thanks, |

Did you order the M-Sport pro package as well? On the 40i, that's the only way to get the illuminated grill.
Can't remember seeing a setting in ours to turn on/off. I do know the picture above is misleading. Definitely not that bright. And yes, ours is on at night when parked or moving. When I enter the garage and walk near the car, I can see it light up as part of the unlock sequence.

I'm not sure if my M50i has this or not inasmuch as I seldom drive at night. However if I do find my car so equipped, I'll be asking y'all how to permanently extinguish it.

I thought the grille just had lights shining down from the top. Are you talking about a grille that's outlined in lights?

It's basically the same light pattern as was offered on the X6 for a time.

Yeah it's not really that noticeable. I have it on mine, attached is a pic.

I think this is the setting you are looking for. If you turn off BMW Iconic Glow, it should turn off the grille lights. It's found under the exterior light settings. I haven't tried turning it off yet but will confirm next time I drive it at night.

Now that’s interesting. I have the same setting and I have the illuminated grill (m sport pro package) but when I select that it is grayed out and says “this feature is not available”

That is weird, doesn't seem that noticeable in my pic but it does in yours. Maybe when the grille is closed it's less noticeable? Or perhaps it depends on the overall lighting in the area.
