Front license plate installation on X7
Front license plate is required in CA. I don't see screw holes or hole marks on the front grille - do you just hand drill the bumper to install the plate holder?

They are also required in CT. Instead of destroying the bumper I installed this https://www.slybrackets.com/store/SL...LLE-p513297312 and loving it

For the 2023+, no idea and I think it is different. But for 2022 or prior, it works just fine. I have it on mine. It is literally just like the 2nd picture when you click on the link. You just mount to the side and I've had zero issues with it.

Bracket too
Just for clarity, the license plate bracket is drilled/screwed to the bumper, then the plate to the bracket...seems obvious, but you never know

just drill that plastic trim piece on the bumper. All these other methods aren't worth the time and money. Once you are done with the license plate (i.e.: moved to a state with no front license) you can buy that plastic trim that you drilled as a separate part for less than $290 bucks or so ..... and it takes 5-10 min to install.

That's a good option considering you don't want to punch holes to the bumper.. |

I see. The X7 has a very pretty front end, and I personally prefer the standard look of the license plate (center, simple factory) to not take a away from the X7 front end, or add an aftermarket flavor (i.e.: side license plate) to it. Drilling the plastic trim should not be an issue given that it can me replaced for a 290 bucks or so (assuming u will ever need to remove the front license plate when relocating to another state).

I have had the number plates drilled to center for all my previous bmws, no doubt they look pretty, but I personally liked it even better on to the side on my new car.
Also this setup is completely lock and play meaning you can take it out if you don't want it in future, ''without a scar'. Having said that, per what OP was looking for, I was just sharing an option that works flawless. Ofcourse he will be deciding on what he wants . |

Here is Washington state, nothing is illegal anymore. There are no enforceable laws of any kind, so I will be leaving the front plate in the garage.

Cravenspeed, out of Oregon, has a really good option for no drill front plate mounting. It was a quick 10 minutes install. 100 bucks is not inexpensive, but worth it for not ruining my front bumper.
There might be alternative options similar to this. |

Sorry, I guess my sarcasm didn't come through. If you live in Washington then you know that no laws are really being enforced anymore, particularly in the King, Kitsap, Pierce, Snohomish, and Thurston County corridor. Pretty much anything goes, illegal or not, so I won't be worrying about being in compliance with front license plate requirements.
