Looking for some info....
I have a 2006 330xi. Recently AC stopped working (only blowing up hot air). Took it to a dealer and per them the condenser has holes, likely from small stones and that is making the condenser leak. To my surprise BMW wont cover the replacement as it was not mechanical breakdown. WTF? I am trying to find the copy of the contract to read it but is it really the case? Has anything like this happen to anyone, would like to know what your experience was.

amigos - welcome to the forum. Which dealer in DE? Burton or Union Park? IG Burton is my dealer.
I'm not sure where the condenser is, but is it really possible to have stones hitting it? That seems weird to me. Are you able to see this, or did they point it out to you? If the unit was really damaged by stones, etc. then the warranty won't cover it - but maybe you're getting a bum story on that. Damn poor time of year for that to happen too with all this heat we're having.

your 330 will have the condenser up front, right behind the front lower grill, as you have no CAC. Unfortunately, its just like your windshield or headlights getting busted by a rock. Warranty doesn't cover that. However, if there's a crack in the condenser, which looks like a stress/fracture not from impact. It should be covered. It'll take a pretty large hit to create a hole in the condenser, so there should be an area with a sizable dent and fairly obvious hole.
Your best bet would be to search the junkyards for a replacement. |
