Are you sure...only thought they did the RSQ8...haven't heard anything about the RSQ7 here or over in Europe.
Read that wrong somehow. No, there isn't an RSQ7 (there is an SQ7 now though), however the Q7 does not compete with the X7, as it is a full size smaller and competes with the X5.
Depends what you mean by class, in terms of length it's actually right smack dab in the middle of X5 and X7:

X5 - 194 inch
Q7 - 199 inch
X7 - 204 inch

The Q7 is indeed a tad less luxurious and slightly more utilitarian but definitely in the same league when it comes to creature comforts, features and overall "class". I'd say the Q7 starts lower in the hierarchy (with 4 banger and more basic trims) while the BMW has a higher top end but in the middle tiers they compete very well.
I have driven a 2018 Q7 (current model) and the G05, I would say they do not compete well. I would never consider it as a competitor to the X7, I think the MB GLS, and the Range Rover Sport are the actual competition. https://cars.usnews.com/cars-trucks/audi-q7-vs-bmw-x5

The back looks like X1, the front reminds me of Nissan Juke/Pontiac Aztec/Citroen C4 Cactus. Looks like someone designs with nostalgia ???

Would the regular Range Rover compete with the GLS and X7? Size wise? Cargo etc?

Probably, although price wise it is closer to the GLS AMG 63S and Alpina X7, which is why I mentioned the RR Sport. I am interested in the X8, if it looks decent I will order one, if not, I will just stick with Porsche, been happy with my '20 Cayenne.

The problem with trying make a full size luxury SUV any more sporty than what it currently can do with DHP will just destroy the ride. I know the allure of the full “M” marketing is there for some people but BMW also was very realistic what their full-size luxury halo vehicles were designed to do like the M760i. Trying to make the full size M760 a track vehicle would be ridiculous and insulting. A X8M or even a X7M would only be a exercise of marketing. Another 100hp will not make a full size SUV any more of a track monster than making a Gulfstream G650 a fighter jet.
A M50i can easily and safely get 700hp with a quick tune if they somehow felt the need for more power but I doubt few will bother. My guess is the X8 will only be a coupe alternative style change like the X6 is to the X5. Hard to believe there is really that big of a demographic (especially at this price point) that still wants another coupe variation????

Personally, I am interested in the rumored 7 Series rear seat legroom with the larger cargo volume. Not a huge fan of the coupe SUVs, seems only VW makes them look decent (Q8 and Cayenne Coupe).

Yup, and that is where it’s at at the top end of the luxury SUV market. That kind of space and luxury will be very appealing at this price point. Once you get past a certain level of performance, more is just more so the niche will be the ultra spacious luxury executive limo cabin.

Does your Cayenne have Air Suspension? If so can you tell me how it rides? The Mrs. Didn’t have it on hers and I thought it rode great. I’m honestly considering switching to a Cayenne Turbo for a daily, the upgraded suspension and double pane glass may be a good comfy combo but with great performance.

Blank

I have Air and PDCC and it is wonderful. Comfortable if I want it to be, and yet still corners mostly flat. I have the thermal/acoustic glass and it is pretty quiet. I notice the thermal as I live in central TX, it made a huge difference.

Good info, I’ve been driving our X7 a lot and love the ride. I was shocked how well the Cayenne drove with air, took one for a spin today. Nowadays I like good ride and quality sound.
