Rough idle and car shaking.
Hello all. I have a 2011 335i which recently started to have a rough idle and shake while sitting. Sometimes it feels like the car is going to shut off but it doesn't.
Some things about the car 86888 miles PPK tune Upgraded charge pipe and intercooler Spark plugs and coil packs just changed last week, plugs torqued to spec (Bosch) Maf replaced yesterday Cleaned both map sensors with CRC Chevon techron injector cleaner added last week Car was running this way before tune up. Figured it would help but it didnt. Rpms also bounce up and down a little. In reverse it stumbles as if its jerking and while the wheel is turned feels as if its about to die. These are the codes im seeing. Thank you. |

No luck. Took the car to the dealer. They ran a smoke test. Smoke was coming from the aftermarket charge pipe and intercooler. They put all the stock parts back and no leaks but they say the crankcase pressure is better but not up to spec.
Called bmw and they said either faulty valve cover or bad cylinder head. At this point i just want the car back and I'll fix the other shit myself smh. Car has done nothing but cost me money. My Toyota is laughing at me. |

oh don't be salty, all BMWs are relatively high maintenance, more so the 335i for sure but the 328i aint no Toyota.
My past 2 BMWs were NA motors (e92, e46), and they had their fair share of problems such as cooling, gaskets, misfires etc and even my 328i GM tranny crapped out at 50k so...

No salt. Just facts, and I've had all 3 iterations of the motors (N/A, turbo, and the S65) in this platform aside from the diesel. :

These cars are dirt cheap, and their performance is nuts for the money.
Repair issues are just the n54s way of weeding out the weak.

Looks to me like a wiring fault in the maf and intake air temp wires... It's definitely going to run like crap if the ECU doesn't know how much air is going in, and at what temp. I'd start by clearing all faults and seeing what comes back...if the maf and intake temp codes return quickly, I think you need to be checking those parts and the connectors and wires leading to them. Once you figured out what's going on there, then you can turn your attention to any other codes, but I think that'll get you running a lot better to begin with. Good luck!
