Mercs are overall very disappointing at the moment, i think the 190es were one of the best looking cars years ago but lately they've got a weird rounded style which just looks shit.

Hideous, but the X4 and X6 aren't exactly lookers.

4x4 coupe : bad idea.
4x4 convertible : very, very bad idea.

This

Quite what JLR think they are doing with an Evoque cabrio (except for taking money from balloon-lipped clowns from Essex) is beyond me

Daughters boyfriends has one as a demo at the moment - similar to picture but black. Hated it when he first got it but have to say its grown on me and now prefer looks to X6.... Way too hard to get in and out of back seats without banging your head though...

It is being replaced by a non coupe version tomorrow (read - facelifted ML also called GLE) which will be much better for putting 2 boisterous spaniels in boot!!

not just me being critical then. I think the X6 would be classed a more attractive.

the one I followed had whopping great wheels on it too, for some reason it reminded me of this (even though there are no huge wheels)

I work right next door to a Benz dealership, so see some great looking cars coming and going, but also some utter sh!te.

I like Merc styling but I dont like - the bit above the exhaust pipe treatment is just awful.

The problem is there are many out there with absolutely no taste, so such cars will sell.

Also people with more money than any sense of taste.

Idiots who get themselves into debt to drive one to show off in front of the family and neighbours.

People who listen to the mainstream music and watch mainstream crap in the tv

So the car will sell.

An AMG one passed me this evening and I also couldn't believe how vulgar it was. I was on my boxster and the size of the thing was ridiculous.

I'm no X6 fan but this is definitely more vulgar.

Its a bloody horrific looking thing but is it so much worse than an RRS, Discovery, ML, X5,4,3 etc?

Imo they have all fallen out of the ugly tree and hit every branch on the way down

RRS and Discovery are great cars IMO! Proper SUVs I get - it's these coupe cum SUVs that I don't.

They miss the practicality of an SUV and they aren't sporty so why try to look like a coupe. In the end they just look bloated with a huge arse!

Defiantly in a minority here but for both the X6 and GLE in the right spec with the right wheels can look great

New Disco looks good; shame there's no 6 cylinder option.

This.

Not practical, not sporty, wont go off road. A niche that doesnt exist. Except people buy them so it must.

The coupe GLE is being replaced by a normal square back one today so can report back after weekend on difference... starting with being able to put two stupid spaniels in the boot of the practical one...

The niche's are just ridiculous, its ruining cars. Just spend more on dev work for core cars!

Also while I'm ranting, 4 series is a little too big, 2 series a little too small......guess what used to be perfect........3 series coupe. The 2 has been shrunk and 4 stretched specifically to create segment difference. Wahhhh!

I just all used to work.
