Base on the 40i is a 10 speaker system. HK is 16 speakers and B&W is 20.

If you get the 40i with either premium or executive pkg, then HK will be included in either one of the packages.

It is night/day difference from base. I would do no less than HK

I picked up a 22 x7 40i that had everything except HK and DHP. I complained about the lack of hk and got a $600 break on top of my negotiating price down. I used that $$ to buy an Alpha one amp from bimmertech which I installed myself. Sounds much better now and dare I say better than HK. The amp is a DSP amp and I have not even started tinkering with eq and timings. I could not let such a nice x7 slip through my fingers due to lack of HK.

I just bought an XB7 and went with the B&W
I think it should be standard on the XB7
I have not gotten to listen to mine much as it just arrived and went straight in for full PPF but my friend has it in his X7 M60i and it sounds amazing!
My cousin has the HK in his X5 and its a nice system but its not the B&W
Id at least get the HK if you don't wanna spend for the B&W

The HiFi system can’t play discrete MCH FLAC files. Does your new purchase give you that capability now or same limitation?

I've owned multiple BMW's from 2019 to present. Currently own a 24' X5 and a 24' X7. I upgraded the sound system on the X7 to the B&W. It does sound good for certain types of music but it varies greatly. Also, when in the 'Stage' setting, the overhead speakers rattle like they are blown. I took it into the dealership and they said although they hear the rattling, everything is as it should be which is not what you want to hear when paying $3,500 for a sound system. The B&W system also has to be turned up to at least 75% to really hear a full sound. Where as the HK system sounds warmer and fuller at lower levels. I never got ear fatigue with the HK system where as with the B&W system, I find myself having to turn it down and then it doesn't sound as rich or full. I would not opt for the B&W system again. Even if it was the same price as the HK.

Did you check if someone played around w/the equalization settings in the X7? This could have been done prior to your purchase (test drive by someone else, etc.).

Has anyone successfully upgraded their stereo in an X7 LCI model? There was a thread where DAP stopped working on someone trying to update their X5 LCI stereo.

I’m looking to port my aftermarket stereo from my X3 into the X7. I’ve got an HK and have tested the B&W at the dealer, but really partial towards my aftermarket morel hybrids/helix dsp/jl 13’s.

The B&W system is completely underwhelming at factory defaults. It improves quite a bit with adjustments, which I'd suggest using something similar to these: https://g07.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...ht=buying+used

Mids and highs are great, but low end is pretty lacking for a '1,500' watt system.

Curious if you had any tips on the Alpha One install? I have a 22 and have done a drop-in replacement of Focals but haven't touched the amp yet.

I have B&O in my Audi and B&W in my X7. Hands down B&W blows B&O out of the water. I glad i got it, and you regret it. I listen to car-play audio all the time with it.

no success yet on the g05. he's been going back and forth and they are tweaking their harness to try and bypass the impedance checks the car is doing. looks like the two problem points are the drivers side microphone as well as the original issue where the speakers/amp disable DAP

I did reset the EQ to get the best possible sound. I still prefer the sound of the HK for daily driving. Not sure if the amps or internal settings are off or need adjusting. Looking for local audio tech that can look into it as BMW is no help.

I have the B&W and have heard the Harmon. There really is no comparison if you're a true audiophile like me. I am a professional studio engineer and songwriter producer and very picky about monitors and quality of sound. There is nothing factory that compares. A third party sound system would be it's only competition IMHO. If it does not sound as good as described, you may have a bad system or your setting may be wrong. Or you just have different hearing preferences but it's a damn good system.

PS. On the basic EQ turn the bass all the way up and the treble near 90%. Don't touch the graphic EQ
