Garage List
What are the chances that a person working in (or a person with connections to) a BMW parts department would take pictures and/or provide documentation to display the differences between the old and new?

That may be reversed. Siemens VDO was the original manufacturer. Continental purchased the automotive division from Siemens and was then the manufacturer. I thought that they were going to shift to Bosch at some point.

I will need to clarify but by reading from Wikipedia and on the net, Siemens has a joint venture with Bosch for appliances (not automotive stuff). On wikipedia, it lists Continental AG is one of Bosch's competitors.

Siemens VDO was Siemens automotive group who made the HPFP as well as sensors, etc. A couple of years ago, Continental AG purchased the Siemens VDO group from Siemens.

Siemens VDO/Continental have always been competitors with Bosch.

OK I confirmed it. 943 is defintely made by Continental (based on the drawing); 881 was made by Siemens/Bosch.

All November 2010 and later build cars will be using part no. 943. They did several test and things look good.

Please take the above information as grant of salt and I'm not responsible if you will buy Nov 2010 built car and your HPFP still fails.

Also another rumor saying that there will be another recall on the horizon as Bosch & Conti will pay both Mercedes and BMW for these failing pumps. It looks like after 3 years we finally see the light at the end of the tunel.

Any updates on the lawsuit for the HPFP?

I read through a lot of it; I'm curious to see how BMW is going to respond...

^^ haven't heard anything but I guess you could give the court a call and ask for status? There are at least two that I'm aware of.

As I mentioned above, we *should* have another recall and I really do hope this is true. Come on, BMW! Make us proud

Nice work quattro...

I have ordered a new pump 943 from Tischer and hope to receive it next week and then install it on the weekend.

BTW - I have a full boat of enhancements and putting in my own pump is one path forward.

My guess is that if 943 fixes the problem then all lawsuits will go away and would have been wasted money for the plantiffs !

Noooo, lawsuits dont go away.

I would wait to see how this new pump works after a period of use before I call off anything.
