Stock Z4MC private track rental
6speedonline/mbworld/nagtroc hosted a private track day rental at Palm Beach International Raceway. I thought I would tag along in my 07 Z4MC for shits and giggles. This was my first time at the strip and now I caught the bug. I know this isn't a "drag car" but you would think BMW would make a shift knob that would stay in place. I was also having issues getting into 2nd gear on some runs with the infamous grinding issue.
I am running stock everything, didn't check psi, and used my shitty ContiSportContact tires. My best 60ft was a 2.01 but I grinded 2nd so I couldn't finish the run clean. My next run was a 2.03 but the shift knob snapped off lol. My highest trap was a 106.8 and my quickest E.T. was a 13.42. All in all I was pretty happy with my times. I had 18 runs on the day and only stopped because it got rained out. I had a bunch of 2.0x - 2.2 60fts but I couldn't seem to get it quicker than 2.01. Weather conditions were 80°F with 65% humidity..I only know this because all of the "serious" racers were complaining. Heres some vids: http://s42.photobucket.com/albums/e3...t=MVI_3012.mp4 http://s42.photobucket.com/albums/e3...t=MVI_3066.mp4 http://s42.photobucket.com/albums/e3...t=MVI_3106.mp4 Some pics:

I even posted that video before. Since I don't see a lot of m3's breaking down on the dragstrip, I can live with the small chance of failure.
OP, what was your launch technique?

I wanna go back already with better tires and break into the 1.9s 60ft! P.S. I'm gonna go get a GoPro so I can document my runs with video of the cluster.

Interesting. My best launch was launching at near idle, but I have a lot of mods. Can't wait to finally find a job in the Miami area and move down to the warmer climate (better tire grip, lol)

What a great video that was... so, I wonder if the results shown in the video and what OP says ^ is about the only decent reason BMW put CDVs on our cars? getting off topic, sorry...

It shouldn't bog under 3000rpm if you're close to the clutch engagement point with your clutch foot before takeoff

I've had two Z4 M coupes...the OE shift knob came off in both. ZHP knob all the way.

You would think bmw would correct their mistakes over the years between the Z3M and Z4M. My brother has a Z3MC and had the shift knob come right off also.
