I have a 2019 50i M sport and couldn’t find any options so went with a resonator delete. I had this done on my M550i and it turned out great.
The X7 only has a single resonator so its even quicker to remove. My exhaust guy only charged me $80. |

Is the resonator about half way down where the pipes meet (square looking section) and you just remove and have straight pipes put in that section? I’m thinking about doing it on the new X7 M50i that we just picked up. Coming from an M5 with Armytrix exhaust I want a little more

I wish there were a button I could press whenever I want to get that same exhaust growl on my 50i as when I first start it up. Sounds so awesome.

I am probably going to go resonator delete and try that at first because I already the upgraded M Sport exhaust on the M50i and just want it a little louder or more pronounced. I just don't want highway drone and if I get that then I may have no option but to go aftermarket. I did resonator delete on a CLS63 AMG Mercedes that I used to have and it was amazing with no drone. |

https://www.cgprecision.com/#!/2017-...=0&sort=normal I didn't see anything on their site for the X7 (or any G-series cars for that matter), but it would not surprise me if this company is already working on products for G-series cars. So why not ask? I was in the same boat with my F80 (I wanted a bit more volume) and this device fit the bill.

Id say probably 20% louder from the inside and 30% from outside. No drone in comfort and while cruising in sport but under acceleration between 2500-3000 rpm there is some drone. Cold starts now are

Yes. It is installed (using factory harness plugs) between the car and the exhaust valves and will manually override the position of the valves using an included fob.

Anyone considered changing the downpipe? On my M2 that provided a nice increase in volume and power, but kept it quite civil. Best of all there was no exhaust cutting.
I contacted CG precision regarding compatibility of their B58 catted downpipe with our 40i cars. They couldn't confirm it would fit as they haven't tried, but they were highly confident it would. Given that, if someone is willing to try they will refund the item in case it does not fit. If I had my car I'd try but my delivery is at least 3 months away! Apparently this is the most popular B58 downpipe which does not throw a CEL. https://www.cgprecision.com/#!/DS-1-...tegory=8896209 |

Using the link above, it also looks like CG Precision now has a valve controller option for the B58 engine (40i) as well - the VSC-1. The variant they have for S63 equipped cars should work for N63 cars (50i) too based on engine similarity. I have been very pleased with this device on my F80 M3 and given the cost, simplicity of install/removal, I will strongly consider it when the time comes for me to get an X7.
For those of you considering the down pipe option, I would recommend you think hard about the "bang for your buck". Non-catted down pipes can produce nice gains, even without a tune (although a tune is required to get max gains). But due to new emissions laws, non-catted downpipes are no longer legal for sale in all 50 states. Catted down pipes don't produce the same amount of gains (due the cats of course) so a tune would be paramount. But when you take into account the added weight of an SUV (vs a car with the same upgrade), the butt dyno may be a bit disappointed..
