I added the M-Sport brakes to my Luxury. It’s an available option.

Actually, I added it through the Dynamic Handling Packagw, but it’s also a stand alone option.

How did you get the dynamic handling on the luxury?

I thought that was only available on the M? I know that you can get the integral steering and the M-brakes on the luxury, but the Active Comfort drive with road preview should be M-Package only..

On my latest ordering guide, it says ZDH (Dynamic Handling Package) requires ZMP (M Sport Package)...

If you go to the configurator and build a Luxury 50i, you’ll see Dynamic Handling Package as an option. Mine is in production now, and this is part of the build.

On the US online configurator you can add it.

Interesting - they must have changed that then.

On the OG dated 10/16/18, they required the M-Package (I attached the OG, you can see it on pages 4 and 6).

I also tried the online-configurator a while back and it didn't let me. back then, the option was always listed but it switched from Luxury to M when it was selected but now, it works.

I guess it's time for an updated OG...

Another difference between configurator and OG is the optional Bowers&Wilkins on the Premium Package on the 40i.

According to the OG and PG, it is always a stand-alone option for the 40i at full price ($4,200), no matter if you opted for the Premium package which already included the upgraded H/K. Now, on the configurator, the B&W is only $3,400 with the Premium Package. This, however, is nowhere to be found on the OG or PG.

True. And the M-sport brakes are also included in the DHP package

Absolutely. The pricing and ordering guides are a sticky thread at the top of this X7 forum, and you'll see the most recent ones are from back in October. I've posted a request there for updated guides, but I don't know if BMW has put out new ones yet.

For that matter, I've been following closely the supposed release of the new colors, which were supposed to be available 1 Apr. We've had one member here on the forum actually take delivery of Phytonic Blue, but that color's still not on the US Configurator, even here almost a month later at the end of April. Only one additional color has shown up so far, and only for the 50i. Something screwy is going on.

This is true, because the H&K is included in the Premium package, if you further upgrade to the B&W, it's "only" $3400 more. Still a crapload of money.

Which I'm still tempted to do.

... dammit...

Coming from Mercedes to BMW I find the pricing for the B&W sound system to be reasonable (comparatively). For example, to upgrade from the standard H&K to the Burmester High-End 3D system is $5,400 in the new GLE. I've not heard either system but I have listen to a $22,000 pair of B&W's and they were spectacular. Most accurate speakers I've ever listen to. If the BMW in-car B&W's are anything close they must be spectacular as well.

Is it good to have BMW ultimate care package? I am new to BMWs and was not sure if it makes sense to get the care package when you order your car.

We are looking into replacing our GL350 with X7 40i. It's going to be the family hauler and will be mostly driven by my wife. I am wondering what options and features do you guys recommend and feel are worth the money/upgrade? The ones that I am not really sure about are

- Dynamic Handling Package. I was thinking of getting only the Integral active steering instead of the whole package.

- Driving Assistance Professional Package. Is Active Driving Assistant Pro any good? I don't really care about the "Extended Traffic Jam Assistant for limited access highways"

- 20-way power Multi-contour seats instead of the standard 16-way power front sport seats.

I have the Integral active steering and it's great in tight places. Makes the vehicle drive a class or two smaller.

Driving assistance pro works well at all speeds. I did a 250 mile trip this weekend and let the car drive it self pretty much the whole way. From stop and go traffic to long stretches at 85 mph. That plus the massage seats made the trip very relaxing.

I also recommend the M sport brakes. This is a heavy vehicle, so any additional help in stopping power is useful. But they do get very dusty so keep that in mind if brake dust bothers you.

1. Exec pack
2. Capt chairs
3. 22 inch wheels

Everything else is personal preference but these three, in my opinion, are necessary on a vehicle like the X7.

However keep in mind....

1. The Captains Chairs do not fold down flat for full cargo room usage if you think you may ever need it.

2. 22" wheels/tires look great, but are only summer tires. So if you live in a climate that sees any inclement weather below 40 deg F in the winter, you will need a second set of winter or all-season tires for safe driving in the winter.

Agree w both of those. We never intend to haul anything so we chose the captains chairs for passenger comfort, and we live in south Florida so cold weather isn't an issue.

In that regard and for my kids' purposes, the iPads are far more versatile and capable than the RSE. Like someone said, for me the X7 will not be an executive vehicle where an adult will be sitting back there ever. Just my small kids.

..
..

On a vehicle like the X7, it's all about options and the RSE on the X7 is one that actually deserves to be on such a vehicle and has a far better value than the those of many competitors.
I actually agree with BOTH of you. I also have a 4 and 6 year old with another arriving late summer and I absolutely would add the Rear Seat Entertainment (6FH) as a must have.

Reason is you can connect whatever Amazon, Google, Roku stick to the HDMI port and watch the same stuff you would at home AND have control of what they're watching. If Apple ever made an AppleTV stick that would work too - you probably could as its only limitation is AC power. The X7 has its own wifi hotspot so even better. Kinda easier and more controlling than handing them their iPads even with Screen Time. You can disable/limit the RSEs functionality back there too.

BUT, you can't order Rear Seat Entertainment (6FH) on the 2021 X7 anymore so that is why I can't add it to my order. This is presumably due to some major Covid-related supply chain constraint issues, yada yada. They also killed Night Vision. Such a bummer.

But I am warming up to the idea that despite RSE not being available in 2021 the kids will be perfectly alright with their iPad Mini holders. Also, as the kids get older I'm guessing they'll definitely want to watch their own iPad in a few years.

Thanks for posting a pic. I've been wondering how it would look.

How is the vibration with the travel comfort set up? Can the kids in car seats still touch/use their iPads while strapped in?

That's standard equipment. At least in the US.
It's stored under the rear load floor in the space where the spare tire would go.

I don't think a full rear canvas/vinyl cover that lays over the rear floor and forward to attach the backsides of the 2nd row is included anywhere. I did find one on amazon that is custom cut to fit the backs of captains chairs.

Here is one I would recommend....

The rear storage tray that goes under the floor behind the 3rd row. This comes standard if you get the space saver spare option. But if you don't have the space saver spare option, this tray will allow for additional storage organization in this area of the X7.
