50k less lol? Fully loaded M60i and GLS63 are same price, maybe 3-5K difference at best. Fully loaded M60i will be in the 120-125 range, right there with the GLS.
M60i starts $100k
GLS63 starts $135K

My initially numbers were off but still a significant difference .

Also, why is there an "M" badge on the front grill? That was the last place a true M would have a badge whereas a half assed "M" didn't.

I thought people were exaggerating on the Santa Fe comparison but took a look at the current version and wow.... even down to vents and the lower bumper trim...

Just spotted something that bothers me an unreasonable amount. Most people will agree that losing buttons for the climate control is a step backwards as you now need to poke around on-screen to adjust basic items. Seems that instead of adding a screen at the back though, they just kept the old silver buttons. This inconsistency really makes it feel cheap...

I was going to say, having done this cross-shopping, it wasn't even that close shopping my loaded x7 m50i against the gls580, let alone the gls63.

The M60i has the same hp numbers as the current M50i though, so does it really compare to the GLS AMG63? I suppose there will be comparison tests done, and it may however, I would personally think the Alpina is a better comparison to the GLS63.

Yeah I tend to agree although in terms of quality I'd argue that all three of them are on par, so really, it's the GLS that's way overpriced. The Alpina is expensive at 150k but it's also way more special and performant than the GLS63. M60i will be a "steal" in that class. Mercedes anyway has lots of UX and software issues to deal with leave alone the V8s aren't exactly a first pick at the moment.
I guess it just comes down to subjectiveness again! If you like Merc design, there you go! Out of the three the Alpina is definitely the most aspirational vehicle!

Outside is okay and Hyundai-ish, so still prefer pre-LCI, but not awful. The interior is downright pitiful. Why manufacturers think a long, horizontal, unfinished iPad thingy looks good is beyond me. Throw in the lack of physical buttons for things like heated seats or HVAC controls and it's just bad icing on a horrible cake. 😒

I give up with BMW. The lights are bad enough but the lower bumper design? Good grief.

There's a whole lotta complaining on going, but I think this looks fantastic and yes this will sell like hotcakes. Nice interior updates as well.

Agree on the Alpina, there is an XB7 at my dealer and I am very tempted.

I'm so glad I ordered the 2022 and not gamble on the LCI.

I don't hate the facelift but I don't like it either. Some designs have a way of growing on you but not all. I used to drive a QX80 and the front end design never grew on me. It always looked like a beluga whale.

My biggest disappointment initially is the interior. The screen looks so ridiculous as it's not integrated at all. Also I like a car with a shifter. A place to put your hand while driving. I always feel more in control with one hand on the wheel and one on the shifter. I had a MB with the gear selector on the steering column and I never got used to not having a gear shifter.

Also why do manufacturers think that they have to get rid of buttons? Is it to transition us to cars of the future that will operate on mind control?

Now if the M60i had a 50 HP increase, I'd probably look past most of what I initially don't like or I'd buy the Alpina if you can get it without all the chrome trim.

I had an x7 and I replaced it with a gls580.

The Merc is bigger, rides better than the bimmer, and the third row is bigger. Captains chairs fold flat for better cargo.

I drove my x7 to texas loaded and replaced it with the merc when I got here.

The merc is a better choice based on utility

Utility maybe. But still subjective either way. The Mercedes just doesn't cut it in terms of design and "feel" for me. Also I'm coming from a history of 30+ years of BMWs so I am as biased as it can possibly get lol
What I do like about the Mercedes is the better suspension for everyday comfort, less so for spirited driving. I also like it's perceived wider stance than the X7. I do not like the AMG engines, no matter if those are in Aston Martins, GT-R's or GLS's - they don't have the punch that BMW has at the same output level, subjectively, in my viewpoint. The rest is mostly just interior design where I like both iDrive 7 and iDrive 8 better... Mercedes looks a bit too futuristic at this point (looking at the EQS, EQE et cetera)

I personally never liked the design that connects grill to headlights. Its the design fad started by Honda Civic.
I think the LCI design is something that'll grow.

I dont like two things about it tho: the awkward curvature at the front, thin intake holes and the awkward shaped daytime running light..

Other than that this is interesting. Better than IX.

The front end looks terrible IMO. Those lights remind me of the Jeep Cherokee Latitude.

X7 will continue to sell well regardless of aesthetic changes. From a design standpoint, BMW created the right vehicle for the target audience.

Stop being overly dramatic, guys ... Split headlights is a design trend. Hyundai & Citroen are already using headlights massively, BMW is starting to use them on high-end models like 7er, X7, XM. Audi is also going the same way, and many others will also follow soon.

Here you have the upcoming Audi Q6 e-tron ... with split headlights.
