100000kms in 23 months in g05 x5

I picked up my X5 in March 2019. Been daily driving it ever since and hit 100000kms (62137 miles) in 23 months. Not a problem with the engine ever since I drove it off the dealership. Bodyshops and service representatives were rather surprised when they checked mileage and year of production on my car. B58 is amazing!

Wow, very nice. That's a lot of stress on that B58 in that short amount of time. Good to hear no issues.

Yeah the engine is definitely doing pretty well for such a high mileage in a relatively short period of time. Love how strong it is!

I got 11.8 L/km. It can do around 700kms for a full tank of gas if mostly non-highway driven. But I've got a feeling that it needs a little bit more gas to go around recently. Maybe because the weather here in Toronto currently haha.

Winter gas mix is known to get worse MPG

Haha just found out I made a mistake! Should be 23 months but still a pretty short time for 10k. Looks like my mind still stays in 2020. Terrible. But yea, people ask me if I teach driving in my own car lol

Could you tell us more about what your experience is with the car reaching over 100k km? What maintenance have you done so far? Any minor or major issues?

What kind is maintenance did you endure for that mileage?

1. How many oil changes?
2. New brakes?
3. What other scheduled maintenance did you have to do?
4. Any unexpected maintenance?

OP, I would edit the thread name. It is still impressive for averaging ~4300 kilometres per month!

Highway miles are the best mileage you can have on an engine. I have 187,000 mostly highway miles on my 2011 328 and the engine still runs like new using no oil between changes. I would have had 200,000+ but Covid changed my job from travel to working from home. Short trips, never fully warming up the engine is what shortens engine life.

I was under the impression that highway miles lead to carbon build up on the valves and piston seal issues due to constant engine speed. DI engines do better when moved around through their rev range no?

Not sure, but my understanding is not changing your oil at the proper intervals leads to build up on the intake valves. Short trips add water vapor to the oil which will promote build up faster.

Now that I think about it, my example is not a good one as the 2011 328 N52 does not have direct injection! My X5 will be a year old in March and will only have about 1200 miles on it, so I guess time will tell.

The engine works pretty well and is also problem-free so far considering that I only do regular maintenance at the dealership every 16000kms. The only problem I had was the brakes. At around 40000kms the car shakes whenever I hit the brake pedal at more than 60km/h. The dealership checked and found out that left front brake disc was a bit off and luckily they managed to cover it under warranty, so I paid nothing but the inspection fee for a brand new brake disc along with a set of new brake pads up front.

Sorry haha I didn't figure out how to change the thread name so I just edited it out and hoped everyone could see it. Yea it surprises me as well. Never thought I'd drive that much daily. But I enjoy the g05 so much that's for sure. One big reason why I got that much mileage on it I guess.

I used BimmerCode to get a m style cluster. You can also have alpina style or even diesel logo on there.

Hit 100000kms in 11 months in my 2019 g05

You must be parked indoors because it is definitely NOT 24.5c in Toronto these last few days...maybe minus 24.5c but not +

Good to see the production quality is good.

BTW, did you drive back and forth between Toronto and Montreal once a week to reach that mark?
