Well here is one tidbit for some of you, even though I have not seen the most recent OG....

I was at the dealer last week, getting some work done on my M3 and was speaking to a Client Advisor about various X7 options. In that conversation, he mentioned that as part of the "mid production year update" you can now order running boards with the M-Sport package - previously not available in the US. You can actually configure this setup on the US online configurator for the past few months - but I didn't believe it since we all know the configurator does not always match the official OG.

This running board setup may not be for everyone, but I am sure there will be some other similar "tweaks" in this mid production year update.

Since it's December now (), does anybody know when we will get the new order-guides (if there will be any in the first place)?

I'm planning on starting rate-shopping in two days and ordering in 3 weeks and I don't want to do that based on an outdated order/pricing-guide - if possible...

BMW loyalty Credit

We are current BMW owners, ready to order a X7. Surprised that there is no customer loyalty credit/incentive at all. We can wait a few month but wondering if BMW simple moves away from this thing, and would no longer provide it.

And one example from a popular car search site (see towards bottom of page)....

But of course still verify at the dealership you plan to work with...

There was a loyalty credit available last month. Incentives come and go — that particular one's just not active right now (depending on trim level, anyway).

Thanks for the reply. Glad to know the program is still offered time to time. I will ping dealer, and see what is available. I assume if there is no such thing as price protection, once we agree on a price and order the car we won't be eligible for any new rebate.

I have not placed an order yet, but my understanding is that when you place your order, your final negotiated price can take advantage of any rebates/incentives you are eligible for at the time you place your order. You may even be able to take advantage of additional incentives when you take delivery (since that would most likely be in the next month) since the more factory rebates you are eligible for, the more profit for the dealer. However, you would need to verify those details with your dealer.....

Yeah, jmciver's right. Ask your dealer specifically. When I was shopping dealers last month, one of them told me the deal would be locked in for 60 days (with then-current incentives and money factor)... but that if the terms became more favorable in the meantime, they would adjust accordingly — though if the terms for BMWFS got worse, I would still retain the better terms. In other words, the deal could potentially get better, but would not get worse.

In my case, lease terms didn't get better than the initial deal we'd agreed on, so we're just sticking with those numbers. If you're about to order, though, I would definitely ask the dealer explicitly if you can get better terms if things happen to become more favorable before you sign all the paperwork.

Last BMWs purchased were a good while back and still driving them today. Looking today for a new X7.

Back then, I worked the price starting from the invoice and negotiated the amount over invoice I was paying. For my M3, we agreed on $500 over invoice regardless of the options. Similar on the other car.

Is this still the strategy or are there better options?

I see lots of people talk about percentage/dollars off, but this seems less founded than working with absolute numbers. I am still looking for the invoice price list assuming they exist.

I haven't seen official price-lists showing invoice-pricing in years.

If you are looking at an X7, go with 10% off MSRP plus incentives. As of now, that is what many on here could get (incl. myself) without too much of a hassle AND at the same time, is pretty much the best I've seen so far.

I have found some sites that supposedly have invoice pricing, but I do question the validity of the numbers. This is because doing some quick math with these invoice $$ I found, typically 7-8% off MSRP = Invoice. But people are apparently getting deals in the 8-10% off MSRP range which means they are getting the vehicle below invoice.

The devil is in the details of course. When taking into account incentives, money factors, etc, the dealers are still obviously making money. But for me, I am not sure the "old school" method of making an initial offer of "$XXX over invoice" is the best way to get the best deal today unless you have access to true invoice numbers. But even if you could find real invoice numbers, I am not sure if that methodology would be as effective as you could still be leaving money on the table.

I like the tactic of going in high (10-12% off MSRP) in parallel with the factory incentives you are eligible for, and go from there. The thought being the incentives are pure dealer profit (from the factory) to make up for the higher percentage off MSRP eating into their profit. I see it like this, the dealer will still make money on a deal with me, but they won't make maximum profit on me (like people who walk in off the street and buy cars at MSRP - which happens pretty frequently I have been told). I am reasonable, but in the age of internet car shopping, if the dealer doesn't want to "work" with me, I will just find another.

Is it possible to get the xDrive40i with 6F1 Bowers & Wilkins Diamond Surround Sound System? I see it listed on the May 22, 2019 Order Guide for MY2020, however it doesn't appear to be on the website build/configuration tool.

Are there any other known options (on the 40i or 50i) that aren't on the online build tool?

Yes, you can get the B&W on the 40i. The website had this glitch for quite a while now.

The Order Guide is pretty accurate in general.

Ordered a 40i yesterday through the costco program and got $8400 off an $88345 build so roughly 9.5% discount including loyalty.
Not as good as some of you, but this is a small town dealer and I didn't want to spend more time than then I had to negotiating.
Could've probably gotten another $1k or so if I went to a larger dealership in a big city but wife didn't want to travel 1.5 hours.

They are telling me roughly 6 weeks for delivery (early to mid April). Hope this is true as I cancelled my GLS order after numerous delays.

That is a great discount. I ordered a GLE 450 last year and after 7 months of delays and seeing my first X7, I too cancelled the GLE and bought the X7. After owning three GL/GLS's, I couldn't be happier. You're gonna love your new X7. Congrats!

Thanks LittleJoe. I hope the X7 is not delayed like my GLS order was/is.

I'll end up paying about $6k-$7k less than the GLS450 and have more equipment at the same time but at the sacrifice of some leg room in the 2nd/3rd row and trunk space behind 3rd row.

Plus don't have to deal with the ugly black plastic trim around the wheel wells on the GLS.

Wife and I are having a tough time deciding on an exterior and interior color/trim combination.
Current order has Mineral White Metallic exterior, Coffee Leather interior with fineline brown high gloss wood trim.

We like the darker exterior colors but it's so hard to keep clean. White hides dust/dirt so much better.

Did you order the 2nd row bench or captains seats? The bench seat offers ample leg room when moved all the way back (no 3rd row passengers). A lot more leg room than our previous GLS.

I got the bench. I feel the 3rd row leg room and trunk space behind the 3rd row is smaller than GLS. I couldn't fit my 65qt cooler behind the 3rd row of the X7 but it fits fine in the GLS.

But I'm happy with my decision to get the X7. Interior feels much higher quality.
Just hope it will be reliable. Plan to keep it for 15+ years

Wow, 15+ years! You must be an outlier, even on this dedicated BMW forum. I've had 3 BMWs, one for 3 years (335xi lease), 7+ years (current X5 35d), and almost 1 year (current M5 lease).

My Dad has me beat with his 2003 Z4 (currently almost 17 years old!)

My previous 1999 328i lasted me 8 years and 175k miles. I would've kept it except we had a kid and the baby stroller didn't fit in the trunk and car seat would not fit well in the back seat.

My wife plans to keep her X3 for 9 years then give it to our oldest son when he goes to college. (She wants to get a Maserati to replace it)

My current MB is 7 years old and been trouble free. Only reason we're getting rid of it is the kids are out growing the 3rd row in the wagon so we need a full size 3 row suv to haul the gang.

I've owned nothing but german vehicles for the past 25 years, with exception of one (which was bought back by the mfg) all have been very reliable.

The plan is for the X7 to be the family hauling vehicle. And to help kids move to/from college eventually. Once they are all done with college then I can retire the X7 and get a fun vehicle for myself (I'm seeing an M8 perhaps... .

newbie in the house

Hey guys. I'm a newbie here and finally, I'm about to switch from XC90 to X7. The dealer was laughing..." big leap dude", he said. I'm about to pull the trigger, but I need advice on what's worth and what options/packs aren't that important. I'm from NYC and I'm eyeing the xD40i but my mind is split with the eternal question black or white? Most roads here are like post-nuclear war and Dynamic Handling Package might come to the rescue...or not? The goal is to get 10-15% of the MSRP and Edmunds and some other online services offer great "suggested price", so I was wondering if there any other sources to config besides the official website? I'm grateful for every bit of help. Thanks.
