Charging docks / ports
I see you can charge your phone by placing it flat in area below dash and also plug in a cord in the center console. WTF are all the rest of them? I don't get what's behind the front seats, it only has a port that's only as big as the small "lightning" end of an iphone charging cord, which would be useless. I think it's the same for 3rd rows too, but not home at the moment...

That is USB-C. You can get cables on Amazon or a local electronics retailer. USB-A is becoming obsolete so I am glad to see they went with the new tech.

Thx and ordered! While on subject, what's the indented space for, to the the right of USB-C port behind the seats? Is that to hold a device?

Are you talking the rectangularish port covered by the sliding door? If so, that is for click-and-go accessories. At least that is what they were called in my Range Rover. The parts actually moved over and worked from it which was nice. There are accessories like coat hooks and ipad holders you can snap into those sockets. If you take a peek at the BMW USA website there is a good listing of what is available and based on my use, the ones on the Range Rover site work as well. I think it must be some form of universal port that each brand puts their name on.
