I removed the links for winter but at load level height, it looks like the vehicle it’s resting on the tires ONLY when parked. Sport mode and comfort mode are also lower than factory settings. I’ve ran this set up for a couple years so I can’t give you a completely accurate answer because I run the custom set up. |

I too have the staggered 22's and can't run summers year round. I was nosing around on Tire Rack and I've seen people putting these on their X5M's, X5's, X6M's and X6s.
Continental Premium Contract 6 SSR (these are summers) https://www.tirerack.com/tires/conti...mcontact-6-ssr Continental Extreme Contact DWS Plus (all seasons) https://www.tirerack.com/survey/Surv...ct+DWS+06+Plus Thoughts? |

I will never buy run flat tires or spec any new car with run flat tires unless there is no other option. |

The second tire is not available in 315/35/22 nor in 285/40/22 if you wanted to run a square setup. Which is a shame because I would definitely use them otherwise even though they’re not run flat. |

Bumping this thread, seems there are interesting options if you bump the diameter up just a bit to 285/325:

If you want to go from 22" to 21" for wheel and tire, what options do you have?
I researched bmw parts, and they list the 21 inch wheels and winter tires. Do I have to go with BMW a set? I go with an aftermarket set will it void the warranty if something happens? Any 21 OE set alternatives? |

They're not going to just "void your warranty" when they see the different size tires. They're not tracking tire sizes on every car that comes in for service. If you have an issue with the AWD system or transmission and bring your car in to get it fixed under warranty, BMW may check the tire size before fixing your issue. If your have non-OEM tires, BMW can refuse to cover the issue under warranty.

Front: 275/40/22 Rear: 315/35/22 However the Continental website indicates these tires are not compatible with the X7 M50i. On Tire Rack: - I think these 275/40/22's would be the right tire for the fronts - I think these 315/35/22's would be the right tire for the rears: I had to input these sizes manually into Tire Rack to get them to show, they don't have this tire mapping onto compatible with X7's yet. Can someone who knows more about this confirm these would be the correct tires and fit the vehicle? I contacted Continential directly to see why they don't believe these tires are compatible with the X7 and they responded: Quote:
Does anyone have any input/thoughts regarding this speed rating on the front tires being "W" speed-rated versus the required "Y"? They claim it impacts not just maximum speed but all speeds... is that true? I don't drive my vehicle over 168mph (which is the W speed rating), so max speed isn't an issue, but any thoughts on the "impacts the performance and handling expectation set by the vehicle manufacture" comment? Would putting a Y-speed rated tire on void the vehicle's warranty, or impact an insurance claim/accident situation (assuming you were not going over the 168mph "W-rated" speed in the accident/insurance situation)? The correct size matters first and the load rating second. Both matter much more than the speed rating, which in this case (as you pointed out) is way more than sufficient at 168mph. |

I've had the DWS06+ installed on my M50i for a few weeks now -- no issues. TireRack rep had no problem selling these, and Discount Tire had no problem installing them. I highly recommend these if you want to go away from RFT, and stay with factory size. Get a spare if you don't have one already. |
