Ordered 2025 X7 M60i waiting for the delivery

I have agreed to trade my 2023 x40d with 2025 M60i.

I am actually very happy with my x40d, B57 engine (37-40mpg at 70 miles cruise control), but I wanted to take the experience to the next level. Furthermore, I haven't driven any M60i yet, but I have no doubt it will be a fun machine with the V8 (S68) on it.

If I list my current issues with my x40d, let's start with the Harman Kardon sound system on it. I am not satisfied with the HK's performance at my car. After 50% volume, the sound quality / clarity reduces a lot. It gets muffled and annoys my passengers, including myself. I am not an audiophile, but it's definitely bugging my ears. I went with B&W this time for sure.

My car doesn't have DHP. Adaptive Cruise Control is a must feature for city traffic, even for highway drive. Integral Active Steering is also very much required for in city traffic. I had issues with narrow streets due to X7 large turning radius several times.

M60i has the executive suspension feature in default. I wouldn't go to 22" or above alloys without this option. Moreover, the anti-roll bar system is required for X7 with that body mass size. It helps passengers to have a smoother, and more comfortable ride. It's not only required for aggressive drive. You feel the car's body mass flowing through over speed humps even at slow speeds.

My 2025 M60i updated configuration is below.

Skyscraper Grey Metallic, Bowers & Wilkins Diamond Surround Sound Audio System, BMW Crystal Headlights Iconic Glow, Sky Lounge Pack, Driving Assistant Professional, Dynamic Handling Package, Parking Assistance Package, Ventilated & Massage seats, Crafted Clarity Controls, Black Full Merino Leather, 22" Jet Black V-spoke style 755M light alloy, M Sport Brakes with Black Calipers

Good build - You will not see 40d kind of mpg probably half at the best. 60i is very thursty.
I recommend testing BW sound in X7. I m no audiophile either and hence havent felt the difference between HK and BW. I love the BW Speaker lighting though

You are obviously sacrificing mpg for driving dynamics, but you'll probably enjoy the trade off. That will be a great looking build. Agree that the seat ventilation isn't very noticeable and I don't use the massage seats very much myself, but every once in a while I'm glad I have both. I think the skyscraper gray with black accents and black interior looks awesome. Congrats and show us some pictures once you pick her up.

People talk crap about the massage function but during long road trips the “full body activation” is a lifesaver.

I just took our first long drive (5 hours each way) in my XB7 and really appreciated the massage function. I find myself using it when I am in the car for more than 15 minutes quite often. Is it a must have? No but it sure is nice to have.

Thanks. I am going to test B&W next week. I will share my feedback.

Thanks. I agree with you about the gray + black details' combo. It indeed looks awesome. Check the video.

You will enjoy the M60i. I am trading my 2023 M60i for a 2025 one. Tired of the issues related to having ones that rolled off the line in the first month of model change.

Did you have any engine specific issue?

My current x40d has absolutely zero issue. I hope it will remain the same for M60i.

I can't imagine checking all those boxes and not getting the comfort pack. I actually really like the massage seats.

I am sure you will love it either way! Congrats!

For a second, I thought if I am talking to the BMW marketing team.IMHO, the comfort pack doesn't really worth that amount of money. If you check the BMW cars in stock, most have them this option as default to increase the profitability.

Depends on what model you order, its configuration and if there is model year transition. Currently, it's 3–4 months for 2025 X7 because the production is going to start in April.

...or a lot of people, like in this thread, really like the feature?

I got a loaner with massage seats. It was a joke. You can barely feel anything. Also, the package had LED sunroof that has to be one of the cheesiest options available in any car. Easy to pass on both.

Sky Lounge roof comes with the executive package, I don't think it is an individual option. Did you take your loaner on any longish trips? That is when I find the massage feature enjoyable.

From my understanding, the executive package includes massage seats and the sky lounge. I used the massage seat in the winter so had a coat on and couldn’t feel almost anything. That package is almost $4k and for me nothing that comes with it is necessary.

Yeah. I thought they were packaged together also. Looks like the OP ordered the sky lounge without the upgraded seats. Didn’t know you could do that.

OP has the 40d, so I am guessing not in US market. Other markets have many options we don't in the US.

the massage seats are great on a long distance trip. Just put it on max. The sky lounge roof is awesome at night. No other manufacturer offers something similar

I personally don’t use massage chair option but my wife loves it. I would have preferred cooled seats but just fan is also worth for my rear. It helps with long drives.

Test the B&W for sure. At lower to regular volumes, EQ’d, Apple Music Lossless, I don’t find it that impressive vs the HK I had. Certainly doesn’t hold a candle to the Morel aftermarket system in my X3.

At high volume though, it does have a clarity you don’t find in the HK IMO. And the lights are great.

Opinion on massage seats: I need them because I find the seat bottom a bit uncomfortable…. Maybe because I have a thin body build, but I find the underside of the seats too firm. And ironically that could be because of the vent/massage functions hidden in there.

With that said, test the massage function out. It’s not like a massage chair, but I find it good, my wife doesn’t like it - says it feels like a child kicking the back seat.
