Dog mode??

I left my dog in the car while running into the convenience store, and less than 2 seconds later… the alarm goes off. Seems like the car senses motion inside, my little dog was walking around from seat to seat. Anyone have any ideas??

The other option is to leave the car running… but soon as I walk away it just makes the obnoxious honking!

(Dog was fine, windows cracked, and super mild evening before anyone blasts me!)

Happened to me too in my 2017 X5. I couldn't lock the doors when my dog was in the car.

It used to be AFAIK to deactivate the interior motion sensor all you had to do was hit the lock button twice on your keyfob.

I found this in the manual:

Switching off the tilt alarm sensor and interior motion sensor

Press the BMW button on the vehicle key within 10 seconds as soon as the vehicle is locked. The indicator light lights up for approx. 2 seconds and then continues to flash. The tilt alarm sensor and interior motion sensor are switched off until the vehicle is locked again.

Thanks! I wonder if it’ll work with my phone…. Or if I’ll have to start carrying the keyfob again!

This is weird, last week my car got locked while key inside and engine running, I could not open it with digital key nor with app, also called connected drive services, luckily I wasn’t that far from home and my wife brought second pair of keys…

However, then I tried to lock the car while engine running and I could not…

Just an FYI…it takes approx 30 seconds for the IMS (interior motion sensor) & Tilt sensor to set. They go through a run when you first lock the car…then approx 30 seconds later…they are armed.

You can test this by rolling a window down….locking the car from outside…then wait 30 seconds, then stick your arm inside the cabin and wave it around. The alarm should go off.

Just buy a Model X/ or Y. Dog mode and being able to view dog while shopping is awesome. Keep the X7 for trips and the Tesla for everything else.

This happened to me in the garage. I just put my water bottle on the seat through the window of the locked X7. Alarm went off...
