Hey GDW....wanted to touch base one more time to see how you are liking your DWS6+ tires (vs. the Pirelli's)? Any regrets with the switch? Any 'downside' trade-off's you've noticed....now that you've had them for a week or so?
Again...many thanks for your input!! |

Heads up if anyone is thinking of doing the swap to the DWS06+
Continental is running a promotion good till end of the month with a $110 Visa card + another $110 Visa card if you apply/approve and use the Continental Tire credit card. For a total of $220 in Visa cards. I’ll be doing the swap soon around Thanksgiving in time for winter/snowboarding season up in Mammoth. |

I put the DWS 06+ on my X5 M50. Solid snow performance. I’ve performance is just as garbage as most other all season tires vs proper winters. Noisy over larger seams in the road, but that might just be a product of the standard m-sport suspension I have. I have the 22s (742M).
The real comparison, in my opinion, is between these and the Michelin pilot all seasons. Anyone have experience with those? |

I have these on now for about 500 miles and they are awesome so far. I have these tires on 2 other vehicles. X3 M40 and it has a low speed hum very weird after couple thousand miles. Also have it on my RS6 no issues, quiet, handled well but only a weekend car.

How about these vs the Pirelli Scorpion Winter (they make them in both runflat and non-run flat for the 22"s)? I've seen reviews of people using these all year long, so would be interested to hear thoughts on that also!

Hey, I see you are in MA. Willing to share a name of the shop that installed those tires for you? I'm in Newton and looking for a shop who knows what they are doing.

I bought them mounted and balanced from Get Your Wheels and dealt with Jason Tung. He is great and responsive. Bought 3 sets from him over the last 6 years
Great shop though is Automotive Engineering in Lexington |

Couldn't order the 315/35 22's on Discount Tire's website, so I had to order the rears from Tire Rack and ship them to the store. No discussion from the salesman about load rating, just a rote concern about run flats vs. non-run flats. Should be installed tomorrow with the fronts they had in stock.
The Pirelli P Zero PZ4's I'm replacing only lasted 8k miles and 7 months. I used the recommended tire pressure from the car - definitely not doing that anymore. The center was so badly worn from overinflation, but the outside treads look normal. Weird thing is that I only noticed the wear after a 220mi trip from Austin to Dallas. They looked normal before I left, but I didn't check the wear indicators.

What pressure is everyone running on these? I'm not listening to the X7 this time.

just had these thrown on my 22 40i. Was able to drive about 100 miles after putting them on. Ride quality is good. Didn't notice anymore road noise than the stock pirellis. The only issue i saw was that the speedo seems to be off a little more. Used to show about 3mph difference btwn the speedo and waze/google maps. Now i'm showing 5mph difference. (I.e. Speedo show 75mph - waze/google showed 70mph)

I had the stock 22" RF Continentals that are now discontinued, then swapped them for 22" non-RF Pirelli P Zero PZ4s (that's all I could find in stock at that time). Compared to the PZ4s, the ride comfort is orders of magnitude better, IMO. The rounded sidewalls of the DWS 06+ give more than the flat sidewalls of the PZ4s.

did you change the tire settings in Idrive too? Or did you just leave them as the "summer" tires. there wasn't an option for 22" all seasons there.

I just got the DWS06+ installed on my 22s staggered and can say that it does make the ride even quieter now than before compared to RFT. The new set of tires make the X7 go from a quiet vehicle to library quiet. Ride quality is also a bit less bouncy as well. Handling is pretty good too and I don’t really notice too much of a drastic difference with turning w/ the softer sidewalls now compared to RFTs.
Haven’t had a chance yet to test these in snow/ice.. praying for more snow up in Mammoth/California - but I had multiple sets of these before on a X5 with staggered 20s and they took me thru pretty much any snow conditions with ease. Last edited by sky-raptor; 11-29-2023 at 11:07 PM.. |
