Cleaning window felt

In general, what do you use for that? My bro asked me what to do since his windows sound gritty when he moves it up/down. I made sure it wasn't in the motor or anything, but can't decide what to use. Rain-X on the window came to mind initially, as a clear additive that might provide some lubrication.

The trim piece that rubs the window as it goes up/down into the door frame

maybe some folex would work. "felt" is a fabric right? or some really diluted laundry soap.

You could pull out those window felt gaskets and clean them using sticky tape. There may be lots of bits stuck in them?
