I had same problem as you (the length of the bolts for acc. pedal), and before the installation, I actually purchased new set of screws from HomeDepot to resolve the problem. I did not do the footrest because it wasn't "perfect fit" I am still thinking about wheather to install it or not. One thing I wanted to mention is that I made some modifications to my pedals before installation (days before to be more specific). I did not like the m-tech logo and color, so I removed all the M-tech colors using paint thinner (took some time but it was for good). Also, after removing the colors, I sanded the pedal using sandpaper to remove the reflective coating (whatever they are called), and it came out really cool looking more like real aluminum. When I get a chance, I will post photos of it.

yea, those are really replicas of acs pedals, but with the m logo instead of the acs logo.
hyi1976, i always had the same thoughts as you, that the pedals would look much better with the color stripped off. also, i always thought aluminum pedals looked good as long as you have something that goes with it, such as an aluminum shift knob. you don't need aluminum interior trim to make it work imho.

Most of you might think I'm crazy for saying this, but I've found these M-Tech pedals to have even more traction when my shoes are wet. Never do I find my foot slipping off the pedals. Ever. I think they used some quality rubber for the inserts, that's the only thing that would explain it. There was so manufacturing grease glazed over the rubber when I got it but I soaked the rubber inserts in Griot's Rubber Cleaner for 5 minutes and I think that did the trick. Seriously, I love these pedals. Drove a friends car the other day with stock pedals and my shoes were wet because it just rained outside and foot kept slipping off the brake pedal.

i just got around to installing my pedals from bimmian and i didn't even drill one hole. The dead pedal is not a good fit and neither is the accelerator. the dead pedal is not tall enough, the accelerator is cut at the wrong angle and the bolts sent were an obvious no go. I guess they just assumed they were gonna work because the pedal setup is "almost" the same from e46 to
e92. I had an e46 and yes they are the same in placement and size, but there are little differences that matter. I guess i could have made it work, but that just seems tacky to me. and about the aluminum pedals with non aluminum trim: I think it looks great. It goes really well with my gray poplar. |
