I would say they compare more to X5M and X6M

I’m a former Audi enthusiast myself and will be trying to convince my wife to give up her XC90 for an SQ7. I may have given it a go myself if it were available when I ordered my X7. If I knew about delays in procuring replacement parts along with BMW’s lack of response in remedying the situation I would have been in an SQ7. I find the SQ8 rear about as attractive as the X6. Both of which resemble the Pontiac Aztek.

That would be the v8 rsq7/8. The rsq7 is the People's Bentayga, only missing all of the luxury the Bentley brings, but sharing the chassis and powertrain.

The sq's are good m50i competition and fairly evenly matched, stock to stock.

Where the wheels fall off the comparison is when Audi dealerships, here, charge 30, 40k markups on rsq models. gtfo of here with that nonsense.

Q7 would be closest competitor to X7 but it's still lacking space and luxury in comparison. Q8 is more of an X5 competitor. We cross shopped the Q7 and my wife came from a 36 mo Range Rover lease, so we knew how those were, and the X7 is in a league all its own.

In my opinion it is X7 vs. GLS vs. Range Rover. Some believe LX570, QX80, Escalade, Navigator are competing in the same segment against GLS/X7 but I do not. I think those vehicles compete against each other.

X5/X6 vs. Q7/Q8 vs. GLE coupe or whatever it is called now. Some people believe the XC90 falls into this segment too but I disagree completely and feel it is better suited against the MDX and RX.

In a league of their own: Cullinan vs. Bentayga vs. RRSC/AB. Nothing comes close to these vehicles in any way, shape or form. Simply over the top and pure opulence.

This isn't gospel but my own personal opinion. If I had the means Cullinan would be in my garage. By far the most attractive and well appointed SUV on the road.

Yup, pretty much what the true buying demographic is looking at.

The Cullinan and Bentayga are both midsize ultra lux SUV’s and I could see them venturing into the full size marketing (X7/GLS) size since their current SUV vehicles outsold their sedan counter parts. My dealer mentioned in the last 2 years since the X7 was introduced, it gutted 7 series sedan sales to the point they don’t even want to order any for the showroom for 2021. Previous 7 series customers are trading them in for the X7 and now they have a surplus of low mileage CPO 7 series sedans.

It is worth noting:

Cullinan is larger in every dimension than the X7 though, so it isn't midsized, even though it is a 5 seater.

X7: 203″ L x 79″ W x 71″ H
Cullinan: 210″ L x 85″ W x 72″ H

Yea, I meant a 5 seater. It’s huge for what it is. RR just did the “Black Edition”, I bet RR does a Cullinan XL stretched model soon.

I haven't seen one in real life yet (plenty of Bentaygas though, uglier in person if that is possible) and pictures don't really translate the size well. I agree that the only real competitors to the X7 are the GLS and Range Rover. The other 7 seaters (Escalade and Navigator) are another size class larger.

I test drove 2 different Bentayga’s because I want to get a first hand feel for what they are really about. They were nice but found them rather outdated in many areas in design and tech. They don’t even have rear wheel steering??? Meh, I think if you really need a super status SUV, you go Cullinan.

X7 isn't considered midsized either... The RRSC/AB LWB is 207" (iirc). Falls into the same proportions as Cullinan. SWB is 199-200" (iirc).

The GLS, RR and X7 are a weird in between size, larger than the midsize pack (X5, Q7, GLE) but smaller than the full size body on frame SUVs (Escalade, Navigator, Yukon). The midsize comment was more of a reply to Mystro's comment on the Bentayga and Cullinan, both of which are larger in reality than they appear in pictures, the X7 has the opposite issue (at least to me) in that it is smaller in real life, than it appears in pictures.

Too much Audi carried over in the Bentley... I think I would go Urus over the Bentayga, and Cullinan over all.

RSQ8 looks pretty sweet. But for that money I’d go Porsche Cayenne Turbo. JMO.

Completely agree. QX80, Escalade, and Navi compete within themselves. Although the category includes them, I agree with you that the X7, GLS, and Range Rover are in a separate sub category. Some would put the Audi Q7 in there as well, but as I said before, the Q7 just falls short on size/space, and luxury, in my honest opinion. So far, my wife is incredibly happy with her X7, and coming from a Range Rover HSE, which she absolutely loved, I had to do a lot of convincing for her to give the X7 a shot. Now after 8 months with the X7, albeit not as much driving due to Covid, she is extremely happy that we got the X7 over another Range Rover.

I followed the GW for the last 4 years and can’t believe this is the best they came up with. It’s a friggen train wreck inside and out. Jeep totally missed the retro opportunity to capture their GW vibe in more of a Range Rover way. My wife is a Jeep fan not ever giving up her 2001 Cherokee we purchased new. She and I were hoping for a more boxy retro looking Grand Wagoneer.

I bought a new SUV back in July. I did look at Audi and I'll say the reason I didn't really consider them was - selection. Audi has such low inventory compared to BMW or most other brands. Heck even Porsche had more Cayennes in more colors etc.

I have noithing against Audi cars per se just that maybe the area I live in has poor dealerships compared to other comperable brands.
