New X7 Burning Rubber smell & Radiator cooling issue

Hi all - I have a new X7 - only 3000kms on the clock now - and twice it has had a bad burning rubber odour, and the screen showing "radiator cooling for up to 7 mins" .. does anyone know what is going on here?

never had this issue with my previous X5, and not sure how safe my X7 now is to drive?

thanks,

Hi and welcome!

This may help https://g07.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1765465

You will have some burning smells which is normal. Hard to tell how extreme yours is. By the message it sounds like something is overheating.

Is the cooling message on the screen a warning or just informational? Does it go away? I would bring back to the dealer for a checkout ASAP if not normal burn off smells.

thanks,
It's the catalytic converter, burning the remaining particles. It seems like you drive the car for in city use or short trips only. You need to take the car to a long trip and drive higher than 100km/s or above for 30 minutes. The engine will clean up the remannings at the catalytic converter.
