Intercooler Piping
Hey,
I've been running an ARM Motorsports FMIC for a while and have had issues with boost leaks. The leaks are extremely small but I'm trying to remove all boost leaks from my intake tract. I believe that if I were to cut off that crappy rubbery tubing and put a silicon coupler in place of that and just slide it over the intercooler connection, it should work a lot better? There's no leak from the other side, just the side with the crappy tubing. Is this a good solution or should I buy some kind of tubing kit? I'm kinda new to this stuff so if there's a tubing kit for it, what is it called? Thanks |

The OEM connectors are prone to leaking and they're a major restriction as they neck down to less than 2". You can't stick a coupler over the existing intercooler outlet because there is no bead to keep the coupler in place. Your best bet is to upgrade to an intercooler that does not use the OEM connectors.

Hey man. Decided to just leave it as-is. I'm hitting boost on target and not having any issues with the setup so I'm not bothering. I do believe the silicone would work fine but I'd rather purchase a different intercooler and not mess with this one.

If you're still within the 30-day satisfaction guarantee with ARM, I would suggest contacting them. They sent me larger o-rings free of charge because I was having problems with leaks. I also received a replacement intercooler because the welds were messed up in the connections.
