X7 LCI rendering
Featured on BIMMERPOST.com I've made a rendering of the upcoming X7 LCI, which will also feature the split headlights. What do you think about this change? Cheers! |

I'm getting a very Hyundai Kona vibe out of this with them splitting the headlights up from projectors and DRL. Not cool. And I love the X7 but this is a huge departure.

Still don't understand why they chose to use the exact same DRL as Hyundai

I get a ugly “Predator” stretched cheek mouth and last Jeep Cherokee vibe. The front end is a mess and very vacuum cleaner looking. BMW absolutely is destroying the front ends of otherwise good looking designs. Total “Butterfaces”. I am not sharing in BMW’s grand new design vision therefore BMW will not share in my $120k+ next vehicle budget. This rendering is in as cool as they could make it with frosted matte paint and shawdowline black trim and it’s still ugly. Wait until you see it with chrome trim.

Very good render, looks more and more like a real product, congrats.
I wonder if the X7 LCI will get the new 7 grills aswell (would be quite taller and after I've seen them, more inline with the new headlight design, so my guess would be - yes). |

These designs with their "hidden" headlights are just crappy styling designs. They seem dishonest to me since the real light the way lights try to be secondary, at least visually. Just more expense to change the face
We still see the eyes of the car as being the higher up daytime running lights and DRLs are mostly cosmetic. BMW is not alone being late to this aesthetic as Audi's new E-tron Q4 also does this though they have these big normal headlight size DRLs. Real headlamp is below the DRL. |

Prefer the more tame air "inlets" on the front fascia from the previous gen to the ones on this and the new X3/4, but otherwise I like the design. A bit concerning though that BMW is abandoning the signature halo style headlights entirely now. Would have been nice to have seen them retain those in a modern implementation.

Copy and paste the 2002 homage front end (albeit with taller grills) and there you have the front end for these vehicles.
What's interesting to me, is it seems like they're going back with same sausage different lengths again with the new design language, as the 7er, X7, and XM seem to be inspired by that homage vehicle.
