What is the distinction?!?! Are you telling me that, because I was willing to buy a G8X after driving BMW ///M cars for more than two decades, I was somehow less of an enthusiast?!? Get out of here with that nonsense.

Certainly fair points. I think of my dad, who used to whip around his E90 but now chooses to drive my mom's lazy handling G05 X5 every time and cruises under the speed limit.

But I still think the most die hard enthusiasts wouldn't be blowing nearly $200K on these. They'd be at a Porsche dealer for that instead since the Cayenne is heads and shoulders the best family SUV for customers who still value driving dynamics and substance over gimmicks.

It's fair to say that, by forum definition(s), the driver of an SUV isn't an enthusiast.

I poke…….because I don't believe that at all, but it just highlights the ever changing definition as needed to suit a purpose or an agenda. Back when the X5 4.8is was in its prime, the enthusiasts scowled at the thought of an ///M SUV/SAV. Oh how times AND enthusiasts have changed.

Not everybody is into Porsches. Crazy, I know! Even those who are may not be into the Cayenne despite its athletic prowess in the highest trim(s). I surely would rather drive an X over any Porsche SUV. In fact, for me, it's 911 variant or bust. Nothing else appeals to me in the line-up other than the Taycan [if I were into EV's].

Sure I see what you're saying. And outside the realm of Porsche, BMWs Suvs are still probably the sportiest.

I tried leaving BMW twice; once for a G35……I bought into the hype in 2004, and once for the Range Rover Sport coming from multiple X5's. I regretted it both times. I don't regret the 992 though, but it's a 911. Who regrets those?!?! I do miss having an ///M though.

If you're familiar with BMW then you know they chronically underrate their performance numbers. My XB7 has an "official" 0-60 time of 4.0 seconds, but real life numbers are closer to 3.6 to 60.

Not sure of the reasoning, other than wanting to make sure people don't complain about the inability to hit official performance claims.

Not loving or hating it. STILL need to see it in person.

Am hoping to get the opportunity to attend a reveal event and see it for myself.

Would be especially awesome if it lined up with the current BMW road trip I'm on!

Fair point! ….but that's 911 to 911. It's not exactly the same situation I was getting at.

I guess I'm in the camp that liked both, and I had no issue with the 996's headlight design. If not for the 993 in "Bad Boys," the 993 wouldn't have really pinged on my radar. Kinda like the E30. I didn't get into BMW's until the E36 ///M3. I later grew to appreciate the 993 and E30 respectively, but they are low on my priority list.

This is more a Bentayga rival, to fill the gap between X5/ X7 and Rolls Cullinan.
I'm expecting a 25k to 30k annual sales target.
