brakes didn't properly engage

I was on my driveway yesterday. After starting the engine, w/o ever lifting my foot off the brakes, I popped the car in reverse and the vehicle started sliding back immediately, i tried to stop it by pressing down harder but it wouldn't stop until I let go of the brakes completely and stepped down again before it stop. This was scary, furtunately, no one was behind the vehicle.

What car were you driving when this happened?

I had something similar happen once. The car wouldn't stop until I released the brake pedal and re-applied pressure. I had been pumping the brakes repeatedly right before.

Confused since your profile shows "Drives Volvo XC90".

This is scarey... did you get a chance to have it look at? I'm dropping mine off tomorrow but I'm afraid they won't be able to duplicate the issue.

I'm not sure what the brake setup is, but I'm not overly concerned. I think it was the repeatedly pumping the brakes while the car was turned off right before turning it on that caused the issue.

Yeah, G07 and G05 are brake-by-wire, so I would think it would just choose to ignore some excessive pumping and such.

The vehicle was dropped off, w/o asking, the SA told me they are drive by wire and these in particular has been used only for a few years, they act weird sometime. It's a brake system, it can't act weird ANYTIME.
