Auto Start/Stop button malfunction?

Am I missing something here or my button is simply working?

I tried deactivating it by pressing the button but there is no effect or even haptic feedback. When I select sport mode, it deactivates and the light turns on.

What I am I doing wrong?

Are you in eco mode?

Thanks for your quick reply as I really don't want to bring it in to the dealer to replace the panel risking damaging other items.

Eco or Comfort mode, can't turn of the function with the button.

By default, this function can't be turned off in Eco mode?

Manual does not go into details.

Can anyone else confirm that the button is supposed to work on comfort and eco mode? Are we supposed to meet a certain condition?

Don't know about ECO but definitely should work in Comfort. But i understand your "confusion" because i did encounter the same thing. Sometimes it looked like the car needs to be stopped in order to turn off StartStop, sometimes something else. Sometimes i wasn't even sure if it's not just about firm press , so i gave it really solid push...

Anyway, try to press the button as far from you as possible (at the very border edge next to another button). Then it worked for me everytime until i coded it off completely.

By default ECO will not let you turn off AS/S. BTW, what year and specific model is your X7?

Thanks for your input. I have a 2020 40i purchased last month, Sept.

Is it possible that they removed the ability to turn off this feature? As mentioned it lights up and deactivates on Sport mode with no problem. Tried pressing hard on the corners as one suggested, did not work.

Hoping to hear back from you and others who recently purchased one as I will be scheduling an appointment tomorrow.

I'm never in Eco mode so have no idea about that. Works in comfort for me. Only issue I have is when I forget to turn it off as soon as I start driving! So aggravating!!! 🤣

In ours, the button became very hard to press. You had to press it a certain way to make it activate. Dealer replaced the panel and now it works as it should. My service manager said this was a common issue. No damage and the button works perfectly again.

Appreciate your reply. Did they replace the whole panel and did they have to order it?

Yes, the AS/S off button doesn't work in ECO mode. Because the purpose of AS/S is to save fuel, it makes sense that if you're trying for "economy", that function wouldn't be selectable.

Mine doesn't have the auto start/stop button. I asked about it during delivery and was told the option to turn it off was removed. In order to avoid using it, you have to drive in Sport mode.

Ok thanks. I'm sure your auto start/stop feature is much more smooth on your 2021 model.

The question I would ask, what was manufacture date. If it was one of the last 2020's it might have been on the cusp of transition to 2021. As posted by others, the button was removed completely for 2021. You may have a model that has the button, but the function is disabled in software. Ask the dealer to evaluate and see what they will tell you. You should definitely be able to disable AS/S in comfort.

Ok will do. I set the appointment for next week. Sorry for the dumb question, where can I see the build date?

Could it be possible that it could have been disable in comfort mode as well?

Edit: per mdecoder, my build date is 2019-12-18. Does that mean that my X7 has been sitting all this time?

Sucks that I can't disable auto start stop manually. When in stop and go traffic, the engine keeps shutting off only to immediately be turned back on. All that restarting can't be good for the system...

Just pull the gear shift toward you to put it in sport. This will keep your engine running while stopped. When you just want to go back to comfort push it back.

My AS/S works in eco. I am always in eco. On hot days, the AC can't keep up when waiting for a long light or train so I end up turning it off until I can drive again.
