Not sure. I'm getting an M50i, so don't have the 48v hybrid system.

If you're talking about the main battery, I wouldn't think that's included...never seen a main battery included under any warranty/maintenance plan.

I've never kept a vehicle longer than 4-5 years with the exception being an A4 Avant we owned and the only reason I kept it so long was I was overseas for 5 years with it. We returned to the US and kept it another 1 year before I traded it in...100,000+ miles. No major repairs I did except for the fuel pump that fails in every Audi and the steering was leaking.

But when I buy a new vehicle I always tell myself this will be the one we keep for 10 years...haha. However with the X7 M50i we have on order, we may just keep it for longer than 4 years/50,000 miles.

So, is the extended service contract and ultimate care plus worth it?

I did some digging on the maintenance intervals for the X7 and there doesn't seem to be a lot needed above oil changes, air filter changes, one spark plug change, and a few brake fluid changes. Is there anything more? If not, then why is the price for the Ultimate Care Plus so expensive...it does include brake replacement. It seems most of this I can do myself except for brake fluid.
quote I got below:
Maintenance (upgraded brakes included)
48 months/50k miles $1849
60 months/75k miles $3049
72 months/100k miles $4599
84 months/125k miles $5899

Do brake pads and rotors really cost that much? These aren't ceramic brakes. Is it labor?

Also, the extended service contract quotes are high, but possibly within reason given the tech in these vehicles and BMW labor rates.
Quote is below:
Platinum Warranty $0 deductible
60 months/75k miles $3200
60 months/100k miles $3650
72 months/75k miles $3900
72 months/100k miles $4450
84 months/75k miles $4550
84 months/100k miles $5600

I'm thinking of passing on the maintenance and just getting the Platinum Warranty 72 months/100k miles @ $4450

Thoughts?...would definitely like to hear from those who bought 2019's and if they've experienced any issues and others who have kept their cars past the original warranty.

I just don't want to run into a transmission or engine issue down the road and $5,000 bill. We're getting the M50i.
It's a really bad deal, unless you drive a lot (over 20k miles\yr) or you need it for some reason. Like for example, if you can't afford it and want to roll the finance into your loan to borrow and pay interest on future services.

Often you can avoid certain items, or get oil changes at other places for half the price of the dealership. In my area, even the local BMW dealerships charge different prices for an oil change on the same vehicles. One quoted me $985, one $750, one $569, and one further away said they could do it for $499.

So I wouldn't prepay and pay interest on top. Also I've had some issues with local BMW service centers near me.

$985 for an oil change? Dealers are quoting you these prices just for an oil change? You need to find some better dealers.

Those are kinda high prices for oil changes...like triple what I'd expect.

Can anyone here who has a 2019 or lots of miles having done maintenance other than oil changes like brakes and such comment on the pricing.

I'm really interested in brake pad and rotor replacement as it seems that is the one mx item that seems to be the most expensive. According to the manual, not much mx is needed for the X7 except for brakes and brake fluid changes.

Also, as for the cost, I'm getting the refund for my XC90 mx and warranty plans, so that will cover 80% of the BMW plans.
As for miles driven, you do have a point, but then it becomes an issue of time. In this COVID era I'm sure I will hit 4yrs before I hit 50,000 miles in this. Heck, I've got a 2019 X3 with only 6,000 miles now...bought in May of 2019.

Brakes are going to cost some money. Parts alone for OEM rotors/pads is somewhere around $1500. A lot of times with heavier vehicles the rotors need to be changed each time. I have read that changing the brake pads requires some sort of computer to release the calipers so it may not be an easy DIY.

At 60K miles the diff/transmission fluids should be changed. At 100K new spark plugs. All of this can be done at a decent indy for a lot less than the BMW package costs. Only reason to use the dealer is if you need the loaner.

Yes. That one of the largest Bmw dealerships in this area. Rated as a full "m" service centers. It's probably also the Highest in this town.

Everything is more expensive in DC (second to LA or NYC). But yes, that's the price for the 50 v8. Over $500.

What else are they doing besides the oil change? $500 for an oil change is out of hand for a non-exotic vehicle.

since the first 3 oil changes are included for free. I was called them for the next one, the full 50,000 mile service. It was the 50k service.

That seems a bit excessive for an oil change. Most of this can be done by yourself and you get additional tools to boot. Grab an oil extractor, this prevents you from having to get under the vehicle, a laptop for youtube and go bonkers. The oil change reset function is pretty easy too. I plan to do this myself at 5k miles.

Reset oil change interval -->

Your first 3 years are included free, why would you do it yourself?

I've got a neighbor who has a lift in their garage and three BMWs...one for track use. I'm sure he does all his oil changes regardless if they are free.

It's just that some people have more trust in themselves versus the dealer when it comes to working on their cars especially for an oil change...plus it's more convenient sometimes especially if you have a lift.

Also, plenty of stories or cars taken in for oil changes only to have issues when complete such as oil leaks, scuffed body body work, dirty seats, etc. For the most part BMW services departments are pretty good, but there are some out there no so much.

Not sure, but oil stains on your Merino leather not easy to get out.

Any idea how many miles brake pads can last on M50? Thinking about the ultimate care+ for $700 but I am doing 3yrs/30k lease so can not decide if needed.

I was in the same boat. Ended up declining it since I never had to change pads in my German SEDANs before 50k... however this being a much larger/heavier car I also wonder how long these will last.

I'm sure there will be a big difference between someone driving mostly city/traffic while doing launches between every stoplight or racking up miles on the freeway. My driving is pretty mixed.

If 50% chance needed, guess I will go for that since the pad & rotor replacement would definitely be $2k+ at dealership based on $230 hourly labor...alternative option will be Autonation protection+ with one alignment and windshield covered on top of brake at $1000+

48 months/50k miles $1849 ----->$1399

Just an FYI, you have to add the Ultimate Care + (3yr/36,000 coverage) to the prices on the BMW site, before you can add the Care+1, etc.. The prices from the post referral include Ultimate Care +. Hope that makes sense.

Care +1 is 48 months/50k miles $1849 -----> $1399+$700=$2099
Care +2 is 60 months/75k miles $3049 -----> $2799+$700=$3499
Care +3 is 72 months/100k miles $4599 -----> $4299+$700=$4999
Care +4 is 84 months/125k miles $5899 -----> $5749+$700=$6449

Old thread and could be a silly question, but what exactly is the difference between the Ultimate Care+ and Extended Service Contracts i.e. Platinum?

Does Ultimate Care+ cover all maintenance as well as brakes, wipers, up to 3/36 and including additional years of +1, +2, etc. and then Extended Service Contracts basically cover if Platinum everything the original manufacturer's warranty covered after that warranty expires, but does not cover services?

Correct, Ultimate Care+ is a maintenance plan (for your 10/20/30/40k etc services). Extended service contract is a warranty in case something breaks on the vehicle.

Thank you, with Ultimate Care+ can you only go in at the 10k, 20k, etc. marks or could you go in for example every 5k?

Also is the Windshield Protection plan a popular option people get?

not sure about others, I bought windshield protection plan and came to good use when I had a chipped / cracked windshield due road debris . your car insurance can also cover it with deductible based on your insurance plan
