I honestly haven't seen it in action "self healing" but I don't see any swirl marks or scratch and I have two toddlers.

It seems like some sort of clear coat. I remember using something similar way back in the days from bmw interior care kit but it wasn't self healing it was merely scratch removal and maintenance

Appreciate the suggestion, yet I'm trying to avoid interior films as my kids will tend to remove it.
Things go south I always could use an interior wood trim varnish to remove scratch and swirls but as of yet seems the coat is holding up.
